Atlantean Striker 02
Atlantean Striker 02 — The Encounter
Drowned-empire lancer who charges astride a coiled war-cephalopod · a boss your table can run with almost no prep. SRD 5.1-compatible.
Who Is Atlantean Striker 02
When the sea swallowed the proud island-kingdom, its soldiery did not drown but changed, learning to ride the great shelled hunters of the deep. The Strikers are that kingdom's cavalry made eternal: lancers bred to the saddle of the war-cephalopod, a coil-shelled beast whose tentacles seize and whose beak crushes. They lair in drowned colonnades and reef-choked plazas, drilling in silence among the bones of their drowned city. A Striker fights as the old empire fought, by the charge: erupting from coral cover, mount and rider spearing through a line before the foe can close ranks. Sailors who pass above the sunken ruins speak of lance-glints rising from the dark and of comrades dragged screaming beneath the waves. They serve whatever crowned thing still rules the deep palace, and they ask no quarter, for the empire that made them never learned to surrender, only to sink.
Run Atlantean Striker 02 in Sixty Seconds
- Charge or nothing always set up a 20+ ft. straight line first the Tide-Reaver bonus and prone are the whole reason this model is scary.
- Open by splitting the party spear past the front line and knock down a caster or healer, then keep it prone with 10-ft. reach.
- Kill-priority for the party drop anything that immobilizes it (restrain, prone-lock, slow) its threat is all mobility; pinned, it is just a +7 spearman.
- When bloodied it disengages via Riptide Step, repositions in water, and lines up a fresh charge rather than trading blows in place.
- Three ways to run it a lone reef-ambush skirmisher (T1), a cavalry wing of two or three for a deep warlord (T2), or a heavy lance escorting a bigger threat with grappling Coil dragging victims under (T3).
Atlantean Striker 02
Medium humanoid (aquatic), lawful neutral
CR 6 · 2,300 XP · GUIDELINEAmphibious. The striker can breathe air and water.
Tide-Reaver Charge. Signature. If the striker (or its mount) moves at least 20 ft. straight toward a target and then hits it with the trident this turn, the target takes an extra 9 (2d8) piercing damage and must succeed on a DC 14 Strength save or be knocked prone. In or under water the striker has advantage on this attack.
Actions
Multiattack. The striker makes two trident attacks.
War Trident. Melee Weapon Attack: +7 to hit, reach 10 ft., one target. Hit: 11 (2d6+4) piercing damage.
Pressure Bolt. Ranged Weapon Attack: +6 to hit, range 30/120 ft., one target. Hit: 10 (2d6+3) bludgeoning damage as a hurled jet of compressed deep-water.
Bonus Actions & Reactions
Riptide Step (Reaction). When a creature ends its movement within 5 ft. of the striker while both are in water, the striker can move up to half its swim speed without provoking opportunity attacks.
An armored warrior of a sunken empire sits astride a coiled, ammonite-shelled war-cephalopod, curved trident raised, its tentacled mount churning the reef as it lunges from coral cover.
Atlantean Striker 02, Bound
Companion · acts on your initiative
Bound · GUIDELINEConstricting Tentacles (signature). A creature grappled by Atlantean Striker 02 (escape DC 14) is restrained, and Atlantean Striker 02 can drag it as it swims.
Actions
Tentacle. Melee Weapon Attack: +6 to hit, reach 15 ft., one target. Hit: 12 (2d8+3) bludgeoning damage, and the target is grappled (escape DC 14).
Reactions
Ink Veil. When Atlantean Striker 02 takes damage while in water, it can release a 10-ft. cloud of ink, heavily obscuring the area for itself and its rider until the end of its next turn.
A coil-shelled deep hunter, more loyal than any horse, that fights as one creature with its rider.

How It Fights — by Tier
Same creature, scaled threat. The traits never change; only the numbers move.
Open by charging the squishiest target out of cover for the Tide-Reaver knockdown, then hold them prone with reach. Fight near water so Riptide Step keeps it skirmishing. Pair it with a reef-lair ambush or a bigger deep-sea threat.
Open with a straight-line charge so the trident lands the +9 piercing knockdown, ideally splitting the casters off from the front line. Kill-priority is anyone who can lock it down (web/grease) since its game is mobility. Run two or three as a cavalry wing for a deep-water warlord, not alone.
Lead with the charge into the back line, prone the target, then full-attack while Coil grapples and drags it under. It is an elite lancer, not a centerpiece, so pair it with a bigger threat or run a lance of them with minion reef-spawn. Keep the fight in or over water to keep its advantage and Riptide Step online.

How a bound creature acts
- A companion acts on its owner's initiative, immediately after the owner.
- It uses the Companion block above — roughly ×0.6 HP and damage, no recharge abilities, and at most one reaction trait.
- It moves freely; it takes its Action only while its owner is conscious.
- At 0 HP a companion is broken, not dead — restored on a long rest unless your table rules otherwise.

Questions, Asked at the Table
What CR is Atlantean Striker 02?
Its home build is CR 6 (Tier 2, ~levels 5-10): AC 17, 120 HP, +7 to hit, save DC 14. Scale it to CR 2 for Tier 1 or roughly CR 11 for Tier 3 using the numbers in the tier table; the traits and actions stay identical, only the numbers move.
Can Atlantean Striker 02 be a companion or ally?
Yes. A surviving Striker can swear to a seafaring party as a mounted scout and shock skirmisher, with its bound war-cephalopod Coil grappling and dragging foes underwater. Use the companion block for Coil and run the Striker at the tier just below the party so it supports rather than steals the spotlight.
Is Atlantean Striker 02 a solo boss?
No. It is an elite add-on cavalry unit with no legendary actions or punishing reaction, so a full party will out-act one. Field it as a lance of two or three, or as the muscle escorting a larger deep-sea flagship threat.
