Amelia — The Encounter

broad-shouldered elder-bole of the walking grove · a boss your table can run with almost no prep. SRD 5.1-compatible.

Who Is Amelia

Amelia is the oldest wood in the walking grove, a slow mountain of moss-bearded bark the smaller Afams shelter behind. She does not lead so much as anchor; where she plants her root-feet, the warband forms its line, and her reaching arms sweep aside what the swift ones drive toward her. She is no lone titan—her gait is a crawl and an unattended flame is her doom—but as the bulwark of the grove she lets the hunters and stalkers do their work in her shadow. Villagers who try to clear the deep wood find one ancient trunk that will not fall, that strikes back, and that the rest of the forest seems to gather around.

How It Fights — by Tier

Same creature, scaled threat. The traits never change; only the numbers move.

Tier 1Levels 1-4 · NATIVE
AC14HP59 (7d10+21) To-hit+6Save DC13

Plant Amelia at the front and let the rest of the grove cluster behind her for half cover. Slam whatever comes into her 10-ft. reach. When bloodied, hold the line—she anchors the warband and does not chase. Keep open flame away from her.

Tier 2Levels 5-10 · GUIDELINE
AC16HP127 (15d10+45) To-hit+7Save DC14

Run Amelia as the warband's wall: she fronts the line so Veyn and the stalkers strike from her cover. She never advances alone—she is the rooted center the grove fights around.

Tier 3Levels 11-15 · GUIDELINE
AC18HP207 (23d10+92) To-hit+9Save DC16

Use Amelia as the immovable heart of the moving grove, always surrounded by kin. She soaks blows and screens the archers; keep the warband loose enough that fire can't catch her plus everyone hiding behind her.

Questions, Asked at the Table

What CR is Amelia?

Amelia is CR 3 (700 XP) at her native Tier 1—a touch beefier than the warband's skirmishers. Scale her AC, HP, to-hit, and save DC into the Tier 2 or Tier 3 bands as needed; her slams and traits never change.

How does Amelia fight alongside the rest of the Afams?

She is the bulwark. Amelia fronts the line and grants half cover to Afams within 5 ft., letting Veyn's bow and the stalkers work from her shadow. She anchors rather than charges and never advances alone.

Is Amelia a boss?

No. Despite her size she is not solo_capable and has no legendary actions—she is the warband's rooted wall, built to fight surrounded by kin and vulnerable to fire if isolated.
