Leafsong
low-crouched bird-totem fae who darts and sings the flight forward
Leafsong — The Encounter
low-crouched bird-totem fae who darts and sings the flight forward · a boss your table can run with almost no prep. SRD 5.1-compatible.
Who Is Leafsong
Leafsong is the tempo of the Ahlir Faiser, the forest fae who strike like a flock and scatter like one. Its bird-totem keeps the rhythm of the flight, calling skirmishers into position and yanking them clear before a blow lands. Where Leafsong sings, the wood seems to come alive with sudden movement, masked shapes flickering between the trees faster than an eye can follow. It deals little on its own, but a warband that loses its Leafsong loses its timing, and a warband that keeps one never seems to be where the steel falls. It is always heard before it is seen, and never alone.
Run Leafsong in Sixty Seconds
- Keep it darting then Disengage as a bonus action and stay at the fight's edge.
- Move the flight then use Quickening Song to slide an ally out of a bad spot.
- Time the swing then save Rallying Cry for when the whole warband commits.
- Blast twice then keep Wing-Bolt landing from 90 ft. while supporting allies.
Leafsong
Medium fey, neutral
CR 6 · 2,300 XP · GUIDELINEQuickening Song (signature). As a bonus action, Leafsong sings through its bird-totem; one Ahlir Faiser ally within 30 ft. can immediately use its reaction to move up to half its speed without provoking opportunity attacks. Usable 3/long rest.
Darting Step. Opportunity attacks against Leafsong are made with disadvantage, and it can take the Disengage action as a bonus action.
Actions
Multiattack. Leafsong casts Wing-Bolt twice.
Wing-Bolt. Ranged Spell Attack: +7 to hit, range 90 ft., one target. Hit: 12 (2d8+4) force damage.
Rallying Cry (Recharge 5-6). Leafsong sounds a sharp call; each Ahlir Faiser ally within 30 ft. gains 7 (2d6) temporary hit points and advantage on its next attack roll, and may immediately move up to 10 ft. as a reaction.
A nimble fae crouched mid-dart, its bird-totem singing the warband into sudden, coordinated motion.

How It Fights — by Tier
Same creature, scaled threat. The traits never change; only the numbers move.
Use Leafsong to reposition the flight: ping with Wing-Bolt, then Quickening Song to slide a struggling ally out of danger. It Disengages freely, so keep it darting at the edges. Never let it stand and trade.
Open by blasting twice from 90 ft. while using Quickening Song to keep the melee fae mobile. Save Rallying Cry for the turn the whole flight commits, granting temp HP, advantage, and free movement at once. When pressed, Disengage as a bonus action and reposition; Leafsong sets the warband's tempo and never duels solo.
Same tempo loop at higher numbers: blast, sing, rally, dart. Pair with two or more strikers whose reactions and movement it orchestrates. It is a mobility elite, not a boss.

How a bound creature acts
- A companion acts on its owner's initiative, immediately after the owner.
- It uses the Companion block above — roughly ×0.6 HP and damage, no recharge abilities, and at most one reaction trait.
- It moves freely; it takes its Action only while its owner is conscious.
- At 0 HP a companion is broken, not dead — restored on a long rest unless your table rules otherwise.

Questions, Asked at the Table
What CR is Leafsong?
Leafsong is CR 6 at its native Tier 2 (about 97 HP, +7 to hit, DC 14). Scale via the tier table to CR 2 or CR 11.
How does Leafsong fight alongside the rest of the Ahlir Faiser?
It is the flight's tempo-setter. Leafsong repositions allies with Quickening Song and Rallying Cry so the warband always strikes together and slips away before the counterblow.
Is Leafsong a boss?
No. It is a mobility-support elite with low solo damage and no legendary actions. Run it with other Ahlir Faiser.
