Willowisp — The Encounter
leaf-cloaked wand-fae who flings wisps of green fire · a boss your table can run with almost no prep. SRD 5.1-compatible.
Who Is Willowisp
Willowisp walks point for the masked casters of the Ahlir Faiser, the forest fae who suffer no axe in their groves. Where Willowisp's wand sparks, the others know to strike; the little lights cling to a victim like marsh-fire and refuse to be brushed away. Travelers swear they followed a friendly glow only to find themselves rooted to the spot while shapes in leaf-feather cloaks closed from every side. Willowisp is no champion and never stands alone, but a flight that fields it rarely needs to chase its prey twice.
Run Willowisp in Sixty Seconds
- Tag the striker then mark it with Wisp-Wand so the next fae hit adds 1d8.
- Blast twice then keep Faewisp landing every round from 120 ft.
- Lock the cluster then save Ensnaring Glamour for two or more bunched foes.
- When bloodied then Fey Step Lite out of melee and keep supporting the flight.
Willowisp
Medium fey, neutral
CR 6 · 2,300 XP · GUIDELINEWisp-Wand (signature). Willowisp's seed-pod wand crackles with fey light. When it hits a creature with Faewisp, it can move that wand-light to mark the target, and the next Ahlir Faiser ally to attack the target before the start of Willowisp's next turn deals an extra 4 (1d8) damage.
Fey Step Lite. Once per short rest, Willowisp can use a bonus action to teleport up to 20 ft. to an unoccupied space it can see.
Actions
Multiattack. Willowisp casts Faewisp twice.
Faewisp. Ranged Spell Attack: +6 to hit, range 120 ft., one target. Hit: 12 (2d8+3) radiant damage.
Ensnaring Glamour (Recharge 5-6). Willowisp wreathes a 15-foot cube within 60 ft. in clinging fey light. Each creature there must succeed on a DC 14 Wisdom save or be restrained until the end of its next turn.
A hooded fae who throws darting wisps of green flame and lights targets up for the rest of the warband.

How It Fights — by Tier
Same creature, scaled threat. The traits never change; only the numbers move.
Use Willowisp as a back-line skirmisher that pings the front-runner with Faewisp and tags it for a single ally. Save Ensnaring Glamour for the moment two foes bunch up. Keep it behind cover; it folds fast in melee.
Open by marking the party's striker with Wisp-Wand so the next fae attack bites harder, then lob Faewisp twice a round. Drop Ensnaring Glamour on clustered melee to lock them for the staff-casters. When bloodied, Fey Step Lite to safety and keep marking; Willowisp fights as part of the flight, never solo.
Run it as the warband's tagger: mark, blast, restrain, teleport, repeat. Pair with two or more melee fae so the restrained targets get torn apart. Willowisp is a support elite, not a boss.

How a bound creature acts
- A companion acts on its owner's initiative, immediately after the owner.
- It uses the Companion block above — roughly ×0.6 HP and damage, no recharge abilities, and at most one reaction trait.
- It moves freely; it takes its Action only while its owner is conscious.
- At 0 HP a companion is broken, not dead — restored on a long rest unless your table rules otherwise.

Questions, Asked at the Table
What CR is Willowisp?
Willowisp is CR 6 at its native Tier 2 (about 104 HP, +6 to hit, DC 14). Use the tier table to drop it to CR 2 or raise it to CR 11.
How does Willowisp fight alongside the rest of the Ahlir Faiser?
It marks and restrains so the melee fae land clean kills. Willowisp tags a target, locks the cluster with Ensnaring Glamour, and lets the flight finish the job.
Can Willowisp anchor an encounter alone?
No. It is a support skirmisher with thin HP and no legendary actions. Always field it with other Ahlir Faiser.
