Kizaht
antlered seizer that drags prey to the swarm
Kizaht — The Encounter
antlered seizer that drags prey to the swarm · a boss your table can run with almost no prep. SRD 5.1-compatible.
Who Is Kizaht
Kizaht is the Colony of Barnakol's hand, the member that takes prey alive and gives it to the swarm. The colony hunts to capture as often as to kill, and it is Kizaht that seizes the chosen body in one of its great claws and drags it backward into the press, where a dozen lesser members are waiting. Drowned-coast survivors describe being hauled off their feet by a clawed thing that ran sideways across a hull as easily as a deck, antennae twitching, never letting go. A captive in Kizaht's grip cannot defend itself well; every other Barnakol member strikes it the harder for being held. It is the colony's most patient cruelty, made flesh and shell.
Run Kizaht in Sixty Seconds
- It grabs and drags a Claw hit grapples (escape DC 15) and it runs at full speed hauling you off.

- It can hold two a free claw means a second grab, so don't cluster your fragile members near it.
Kizaht
Medium monstrosity, lawful evil
CR 5 · 1,800 XP · GUIDELINESeizing Claws (signature). On a hit with a Claw, Kizaht can grapple the target (escape DC 15). It can hold one creature in each claw, and a grappled creature is restrained. Kizaht moves at full speed while dragging grappled creatures one size smaller than itself.
Pin for the Swarm. A creature grappled by Kizaht has disadvantage on saving throws against attacks from other colony members.
Actions

How It Fights — by Tier
Same creature, scaled threat. The traits never change; only the numbers move.
Claw and grapple the most fragile target, then drag it toward the swarm. Crush it while colony allies pile on with advantage. Don't let go; keep the captive pinned for the horde.
Open by grappling a caster or healer and dragging them out of the formation toward the colony. Crush while other members exploit the disadvantage on saves. When bloodied, drag the captive deeper into the swarm rather than fighting free.
Fight as the swarm's grappler, never solo: seize two targets and haul them into the colony's killing press. Pin casters so the flyers and reapers land everything. When bloodied, keep dragging captives back; the horde finishes what you hold.

How a bound creature acts
- A companion acts on its owner's initiative, immediately after the owner.
- It uses the Companion block above — roughly ×0.6 HP and damage, no recharge abilities, and at most one reaction trait.
- It moves freely; it takes its Action only while its owner is conscious.
- At 0 HP a companion is broken, not dead — restored on a long rest unless your table rules otherwise.

Questions, Asked at the Table
What CR is Kizaht?
Kizaht is CR 5 (1,800 XP) at its native Tier 2, with Tier 1 (~CR 2) and Tier 3 (~CR 11) numbers for scaling.
How does Kizaht fight alongside the rest of the Colony of Barnakol?
It is the swarm's grappler. It seizes a chosen target, drags them into the colony's press, and pins them so every other Barnakol member attacks the held captive with the upper hand.
Is Kizaht a boss?
No. It is an elite controller, not solo-capable. Its grapple is only deadly because the rest of the colony exploits the pinned, disadvantaged victim; run it inside the swarm.
