Fygathar
ram-horned charger, broad-winged shock herald of the flock
Fygathar — The Encounter
ram-horned charger, broad-winged shock herald of the flock · a boss your table can run with almost no prep. SRD 5.1-compatible.
Who Is Fygathar
Fygathar is the shock herald of the Cult of Metatron, the one that breaks a formation open so the rest of the flock can pour through. It folds its great hand-woven wings and stoops from on high, striking with the weight of the host behind its falchion and bowling the condemned to the ground. The cult sends it wherever a line must be shattered, trusting it to scatter the strong so the verdict-bringers can isolate them. After each strike it beats upward again, never lingering long enough to be pinned. Earthbound and outnumbered, the charger's wings cannot save it; its strength is the dive, and the dive needs the sky.
Run Fygathar in Sixty Seconds
- Kill-priority mid-high; it knocks your line down for the flock, dangerous if left to dive freely.
- Open with a 20-foot Shock Dive into your tank for the radiant burst and prone save.
- When bloodied Wingbeat Surge out of reach and keep stooping rather than standing to fight.
- Three ways to run it line-breaker cracking the front rank, prone-setter feeding the heralds, or a relentless dive-bomber harrying the back line.
Fygathar
Medium celestial, lawful neutral
CR 6 · 2,300 XP · GUIDELINEShock Dive. If Fygathar moves at least 20 feet straight toward a creature before hitting it with a melee attack, the target takes an extra 10 (3d6) radiant damage and must succeed on a DC 15 Strength saving throw or be knocked prone.
Hand-Borne Flight. Its wings are a wide fan of grasping hands. Fygathar does not provoke opportunity attacks when it flies out of an enemy's reach.
Actions
Multiattack. Fygathar makes two Falchion attacks.
Falchion. Melee Weapon Attack: +7 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 10 (1d10 + 4) slashing damage plus 4 (1d8) radiant damage.
Bonus Actions & Reactions
Wingbeat Surge. After hitting with a melee attack, Fygathar can fly up to 15 feet, gaining altitude to set up its next dive.
A ram-horned herald in gilded plate lunging forward, an enormous swept fan of grasping wing-hands flared behind it for the dive.

How It Fights — by Tier
Same creature, scaled threat. The traits never change; only the numbers move.
Dive on the enemy line to knock a defender prone, opening a lane for the flock. Beat back up after striking. Fight as a shock element of the host, never alone.
Open with a Shock Dive into the party's front-liner to deal bonus radiant and knock it prone. Wingbeat Surge to regain height, then dive again next turn. It cracks the line for the heralds to exploit; keep it diving, not standing.
Repeatedly stoop on whichever PC anchors the formation, knocking it prone for the rest of the host. Never trade a full round on the ground. Always a shock piece of the warband, never a solo threat.

How a bound creature acts
- A companion acts on its owner's initiative, immediately after the owner.
- It uses the Companion block above — roughly ×0.6 HP and damage, no recharge abilities, and at most one reaction trait.
- It moves freely; it takes its Action only while its owner is conscious.
- At 0 HP a companion is broken, not dead — restored on a long rest unless your table rules otherwise.

Questions, Asked at the Table
What CR is Fygathar?
Native Challenge Rating 6 (2,300 XP) at Tier 2. Tier 1 (~CR 2) and Tier 3 (~CR 11) numbers let you scale it to your group.
How does Fygathar fight alongside the rest of the Cult of Metatron?
It is the host's shock herald, diving in to knock defenders prone and shatter the line so the other cultists can isolate targets. It depends on the flock and the open sky; it is an elite, not a boss.
How is it different from the other winged heralds?
Where Akzeritham marks and Ramganesh finishes, Fygathar is the charger that breaks formations with diving prone attacks. All are SRD celestials with hand-woven wings; only their tactics and weapons differ.
