Ramganesh
twin-blade herald, ember-pommeled duelist of the host
Ramganesh — The Encounter
twin-blade herald, ember-pommeled duelist of the host · a boss your table can run with almost no prep. SRD 5.1-compatible.
Who Is Ramganesh
Ramganesh is the cult's twin-blade herald, named for the dual sentence it carries in each hand. The Cult of Metatron sends it to flank what the spearhead has marked, slipping past guards on grasping wings to open a target from the side while another herald presses the front. Its paired blades glow with the same radiant fire as the host's verdicts, and the cult claims a soul cut by both at once is judged twice over. It never holds a line; it darts between the flock's targets, finishing the wounded and peeling off to the next mark. Pinned down and alone, its dance falters and the blades go cold.
Run Ramganesh in Sixty Seconds
- Kill-priority high among the fliers; it finishes wounded PCs fast, but it is fragile if you pin it.
- Open with a flanking dive and land both Ember Blades on one target for the Twin Verdict radiant bonus.
- When bloodied Whirling Step out of reach every round and only re-engage marked, wounded targets.
- Three ways to run it flanking finisher cleaning up marks, hit-and-run back-line harasser, or a paired duelist tag-teaming with another herald.
Ramganesh
Medium celestial, lawful neutral
CR 7 · 2,900 XP · GUIDELINETwin Verdict. When Ramganesh hits the same target with both Ember Blade attacks in one turn, the target takes an extra 9 (2d8) radiant damage.
Hand-Borne Flight. The wings are a fan of grasping hands. Opportunity attacks made against Ramganesh by a creature it has hit since its last turn are made with disadvantage.
Actions
Multiattack. Ramganesh makes two Ember Blade attacks.
Ember Blade. Melee Weapon Attack: +7 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 7 (1d6 + 4) slashing damage plus 4 (1d8) radiant damage.
Bonus Actions & Reactions
Whirling Step. When a creature ends its turn within 5 feet, Ramganesh can fly up to 15 feet without provoking opportunity attacks.
An armored, horned herald hovering on wide hand-woven wings, a short ember-pommeled blade in each fist, poised to strike from two angles at once.

How It Fights — by Tier
Same creature, scaled threat. The traits never change; only the numbers move.
Flank whatever the spearhead has marked and stab it from the open side. Use flight to stay off the front line. Fight as a darting flock member, never toe-to-toe alone.
Dive onto an already-marked target and land both Ember Blades for the Twin Verdict bonus. Use Whirling Step to peel off the moment melee closes, then re-flank. It is a finisher within the host, not a duelist; keep wingmates between it and the party.
Hunt the back line, double-striking casters the host has isolated. Whirling Step between marks so it never trades a full round in melee. Always part of the flight's converging assault, never solo.

How a bound creature acts
- A companion acts on its owner's initiative, immediately after the owner.
- It uses the Companion block above — roughly ×0.6 HP and damage, no recharge abilities, and at most one reaction trait.
- It moves freely; it takes its Action only while its owner is conscious.
- At 0 HP a companion is broken, not dead — restored on a long rest unless your table rules otherwise.

Questions, Asked at the Table
What CR is Ramganesh?
Native Challenge Rating 7 (2,900 XP) at Tier 2. Tier 1 (~CR 2) and Tier 3 (~CR 11) lines are provided to fit your party's level.
How does Ramganesh fight alongside the rest of the Cult of Metatron?
It flanks targets the spearhead has marked and double-strikes them down, then darts to the next. It depends on the flock to fix targets in place and is an elite, not a boss; use it with other heralds.
What are the red orbs on its blades?
Ember pommels that channel the host's radiant verdict, represented by the bonus radiant damage on each blade and the Twin Verdict trait. It is an SRD celestial duelist, nothing proprietary.
