Zedekiah
horned maul-bearer, wingless enforcer of the flock
Zedekiah — The Encounter
horned maul-bearer, wingless enforcer of the flock · a boss your table can run with almost no prep. SRD 5.1-compatible.
Who Is Zedekiah
Zedekiah is the wingless arm of the Cult of Metatron, the enforcer sent in on foot where the flying heralds cannot press. The cult teaches that some sentences must be carried out by weight rather than light, and so it swings its maul to break the standing and leave them prone before the verdict-bringers descend. It guards the cult's relics and ledgers on the ground, planting itself in doorways and breaches no wing can cover. Where the host darkens the sky with grasping hands, Zedekiah holds the earth beneath them, smashing any who would flee upward into the waiting flight.
Run Zedekiah in Sixty Seconds
- Kill-priority mid; it locks down your front-liner but the winged cultists are the real threat above it.
- Open with Overbearing Blow to drop a target prone, setting up the Crushing Sentence stun next turn.
- When bloodied hold the chokepoint anyway; its job is to deny ground, not survive.
- Three ways to run it doorway anchor that walls a breach, prone-setter feeding the flock, or a stun-lock bruiser pinning one hero in place.

How It Fights — by Tier
Same creature, scaled threat. The traits never change; only the numbers move.
Wade to the front line and knock one hero prone so the winged heralds can dive on it. Block the chokepoint the flock funnels enemies into. Hold ground with the warband; do not chase.
Open by knocking the toughest melee target prone with Overbearing Blow, then crit-fish for the Crushing Sentence stun. Stand in the gap so airborne cultists keep the high ground. It anchors the line while the host swarms; it is not meant to fight alone.
Plant in the breach and stun-lock whoever tries to break the cult's formation. Knock fliers' targets prone for the heralds and Vyshanti to exploit. Always part of the warband's wall, never a lone bruiser.

How a bound creature acts
- A companion acts on its owner's initiative, immediately after the owner.
- It uses the Companion block above — roughly ×0.6 HP and damage, no recharge abilities, and at most one reaction trait.
- It moves freely; it takes its Action only while its owner is conscious.
- At 0 HP a companion is broken, not dead — restored on a long rest unless your table rules otherwise.

Questions, Asked at the Table
What CR is Zedekiah?
Native Challenge Rating 6 (2,300 XP) at Tier 2. Tier 1 (~CR 2) and Tier 3 (~CR 11) numbers are included to scale to your table.
How does Zedekiah fight alongside the rest of the Cult of Metatron?
It is the ground enforcer. While the hand-winged heralds attack from the air, Zedekiah knocks foes prone and holds the line so they cannot escape upward. Field it with fliers; it is an elite, not a solo boss.
Why does it have no wings when the others fly?
Zedekiah is the cult's earthbound arm by design, built to deny ground and chokepoints. It is an SRD celestial reflavored as a wingless enforcer; mechanically it is a heavy-hitting prone-and-stun bruiser.
