Aughar
lunging cleaver-blade reaver of the swamp warband
Aughar — The Encounter
lunging cleaver-blade reaver of the swamp warband · a boss your table can run with almost no prep. SRD 5.1-compatible.
Who Is Aughar
Aughar carries a single massive cleaver, its edge notched from years of hard use, and the Gator Tribe lets him do the one thing he does best: cut a hole and keep cutting. He is faster than his bulk suggests, lunging from the second rank to fall on softer foes the line-breakers have exposed, then carving onward to the next before the first has dropped. Where Boraks holds and Ragur batters, Aughar carves, the cleaver rising and falling in a rhythm the warband follows like a war-drum. The bog teaches that hunger is patient until the moment it isn't; Aughar is the moment it isn't, the swift closing of a long, hungry wait.
Run Aughar in Sixty Seconds
- Kill priority then point Aughar at the most wounded or exposed enemy he can lunge to.
- Open with Bonus-Action Lunge for the closing distance and a bonus-damage cleaver.
- When a foe drops Reaving Cleave gives him a free swing at the next target in reach: chain through the line.
- Run him as the warband's carving edge, never a lone boss.

How It Fights — by Tier
Same creature, scaled threat. The traits never change; only the numbers move.
Use Aughar as a lone reaver beside weaker kin. He lunges at a soft target, hews it, and Reaving Cleave carries him to the next. Fights as a warband, never solo.
Lunge from the second rank onto whoever the line-breakers exposed, cleaving down low-HP foes; Reaving Cleave then chains a free swing into the next. He carves the soft kills the pack sets up; he never solos.
Run him as the carving edge of a full gator flight. He lunges along the line dropping wounded foes and chaining cleaves, while the warband pins them in place. He reaps with the pack, never alone.

How a bound creature acts
- A companion acts on its owner's initiative, immediately after the owner.
- It uses the Companion block above — roughly ×0.6 HP and damage, no recharge abilities, and at most one reaction trait.
- It moves freely; it takes its Action only while its owner is conscious.
- At 0 HP a companion is broken, not dead — restored on a long rest unless your table rules otherwise.

Questions, Asked at the Table
What CR is Aughar?
CR 6 (2,300 XP) at his native Tier 2. Scale to ~CR 2 for Tier 1 or ~CR 11 for Tier 3 using the tier table.
How does Aughar fight alongside the rest of the Gator Tribe?
He is the carving edge. Aughar lunges in to finish the wounded, soft targets the line-breakers and grapplers expose, chaining cleaves through the enemy. He is a rank-and-file reaver, not a solo boss.
How does Reaving Cleave chain?
Whenever Aughar drops an enemy to 0 hit points with his cleaver, he immediately gets a free cleaver swing at another foe in reach, so feed him softened targets to keep the chain going.
