The Gilded Sentinel — The Encounter
guardian of the eastern throne — what it stands before does not fall. · a boss your table can run with almost no prep. SRD 5.1-compatible.
Who Is The Gilded Sentinel
The Gilded Sentinel is a wall with claws. It does not pursue; it is placed on the objective and holds it, buffing the court around it and stepping in front of every blow aimed at an ally. Pinning Slam drops a target prone and grappled — served up for the heralds to finish.

- Buffs the court allied fiends within 10 ft. gain +1 AC.
- Pinning Slam prone + grapple feeds downed targets to the heralds.
- Unmoved advantage vs. prone and forced movement — hard to reposition.

How It Fights — by Tier
Same creature, scaled threat. The traits never change; only the numbers move.
A scaled-down The Gilded Sentinel for a low-level party — keep its role identical, just softer numbers. It is the intercept wall — it plants on the objective, redirects hits meant for its allies onto itself, and Pinning Slam pins prey prone and grappled for the heralds to collect.

How a bound creature acts
- A companion acts on its owner's initiative, immediately after the owner.
- It uses the Companion block above — roughly ×0.6 HP and damage, no recharge abilities, and at most one reaction trait.
- It moves freely; it takes its Action only while its owner is conscious.
- At 0 HP a companion is broken, not dead — restored on a long rest unless your table rules otherwise.

Questions, Asked at the Table
What CR is The Gilded Sentinel?
At its native tier The Gilded Sentinel is CR 6. Scale the AC, HP, to-hit, and save DC to the tier line that matches your party's level.
How does The Gilded Sentinel fight in the Court of Seere?
It is the intercept wall — it plants on the objective, redirects hits meant for its allies onto itself, and Pinning Slam pins prey prone and grappled for the heralds to collect.
How do you get past the Sentinel?
You usually can't focus its allies while it's up — Intercept eats those hits. Either burn it down first or pull its protected ally more than 5 feet away so Intercept can't trigger.
