Goblin Common 2
Goblin Common 2 — The Encounter
Cackling warren cutter who fights bravest in a crowd · a boss your table can run with almost no prep. SRD 5.1-compatible.
Who Is Goblin Common 2
The warren counts its strength not in champions but in cutters like this — interchangeable, expendable, and far more dangerous than any one of them looks. This goblin has never won a fair fight in its life and has no intention of starting now; it lives by the ambush, the flank, the two-on-one, the strike from behind while a braver fool holds the enemy's eyes. Pack Tactics is not a tactic it was taught but the only way it has ever known to live. It hoards trinkets in a filthy pouch, betrays its packmates the instant betrayal pays better, and feels exactly as much loyalty to the chief as the chief's whip enforces. Yet drop a dozen of these into a corridor and they become a single hungry organism, flowing around shields, snapping at exposed flanks, and pulling down warriors three times their size. The warren has thousands. It can spend them like coppers.
Run Goblin Common 2 in Sixty Seconds
- Set the flank — Pack Tactics gives advantage whenever an ally is adjacent, so always fight in pairs.
- Open by ganging two goblins onto one PC for stacked advantage swings.
- Kill-priority is any target an ally already threatens; pile the pack onto it.
- When bloodied it Nimble-Escapes to hide and reposition for a fresh flank.
- Three ways to run it: a corridor swarm, flanking screen around a goblin boss, or a hit-and-fade skirmish that bleeds the party through the warren.
Goblin Common 2
Small humanoid (goblinoid), neutral evil
CR 1 · 200 XP · GUIDELINEPack Tactics. Signature. The goblin has advantage on an attack roll against a creature if at least one of the goblin's allies is within 5 feet of the creature and the ally isn't incapacitated.

Javelin. Ranged Weapon Attack: +4 to hit, range 30/120 ft., one target. Hit: 5 (1d6+2) piercing damage.

Goblin Common 2, Bound
Companion · acts on your initiative
Bound · GUIDELINEFlanker (signature). Goblin Common 2 counts as an ally for the goblin's Pack Tactics, and itself gains advantage when it and the goblin both threaten the same target.

Shortbow. Ranged Weapon Attack: +4 to hit, range 80/320 ft., one target. Hit: 5 (1d6+2) piercing damage.
Reactions
Duck Away. When targeted by a melee attack, Goblin Common 2 can move 10 feet without provoking opportunity attacks.
A skittish bowgoblin who circles to the flank and lets the cleaver do the close work.

How It Fights — by Tier
Same creature, scaled threat. The traits never change; only the numbers move.
Set up flanks so Pack Tactics gives advantage every swing. Open by pairing off on single targets, then Nimble Escape when answered. Kill-priority is whoever an ally already threatens. Pair it with more goblins — numbers are the kit.
A scaled trooper: flank, gang up, hide, repeat. Use corridors to force the party into the pack's reach. Pair it with a bigger threat; it brings only Pack Tactics.
Run as elite warren cutters in a lair, never solo. Swarm and flank around the boss to screen it. Pair it with a flagship threat; alone it flees.

How a bound creature acts
- A companion acts on its owner's initiative, immediately after the owner.
- It uses the Companion block above — roughly ×0.6 HP and damage, no recharge abilities, and at most one reaction trait.
- It moves freely; it takes its Action only while its owner is conscious.
- At 0 HP a companion is broken, not dead — restored on a long rest unless your table rules otherwise.

Questions, Asked at the Table
What CR is Goblin Common 2?
Its native build is CR 1 (200 XP), a Tier 1 trooper built to fight in packs. The sheet also gives Tier 2 and Tier 3 numbers for higher-level goblin forces.
Can Goblin Common 2 be a companion or ally?
Yes — a common goblin works as a minion ally or scout, deadly in a flanking pair and timid alone. It also ships with its own bound companion, Grik, a flanking archer.
Is it a solo boss?
No. It is expendable rank-and-file with no legendary actions. Field it as a swarm or as screening troops for a flagship threat.
