Kimby
road-warden spear of the shell-monastery
Kimby — The Encounter
road-warden spear of the shell-monastery · a boss your table can run with almost no prep. SRD 5.1-compatible.
Who Is Kimby
Kimby walks ahead of the warband with a pack of scrolls and a spear taller than he is, scouting passes and reading weather the way Gunta reads students. He fights at reach, setting his spear against anything that charges and skewering it before it lands a blow. The monks trust his warning more than their own; he has never led them into an ambush. In the line he guards a flank or a narrow approach, holding chargers at spear-length so Dennis can trip them and Vincent can break them, and he is first to find the road home when the fight is done.
Run Kimby in Sixty Seconds
- Ready your spear then gut the first charger for the Set-for-the-Charge bonus.
- Fight at 10-ft. reach then keep foes off the softer monks.
- Guard the flank then let Dennis trip and Vincent break whatever you brace.
- Read the field then warn the warband; Kimby is never surprised.

How It Fights — by Tier
Same creature, scaled threat. The traits never change; only the numbers move.
At T1 Kimby guards a flank: ready the spear, gut the first charger for the Set bonus, and call out threats before they arrive.
At T2 (native) he holds a narrow approach for the warband, reach-attacking and bracing against cavalry while the others form up.
At T3 he is the flank-warden and scout of a full flight, denying charges and screening the pack; he holds the edge, he does not roam alone.

How a bound creature acts
- A companion acts on its owner's initiative, immediately after the owner.
- It uses the Companion block above — roughly ×0.6 HP and damage, no recharge abilities, and at most one reaction trait.
- It moves freely; it takes its Action only while its owner is conscious.
- At 0 HP a companion is broken, not dead — restored on a long rest unless your table rules otherwise.

Questions, Asked at the Table
What CR is Kimby?
His native tier is 2, about CR 5 (1,800 XP); use the T1/T3 columns to rescale.
How does Kimby fight alongside the rest of the Kukurikapu?
He is the scout and flank-warden. He spots threats early, holds narrow approaches with his bracing spear, and feeds chargers to Dennis's trips and Vincent's slams while screening the warband's edge.
Can Kimby fight solo?
No. With no legendary kit he is a skirmisher and scout; keep him anchoring a flank within the warband.
