Bluebell
moon-spear guardian who holds the warren line
Bluebell — The Encounter
moon-spear guardian who holds the warren line · a boss your table can run with almost no prep. SRD 5.1-compatible.
Who Is Bluebell
Where Starshine carries the lantern, Bluebell carries the spear, and between them the Lunar Cottontails hold a line no fox or raider has yet broken. He is one of the warren's spear-guardians, trained to plant himself at a gap and make the enemy pay for every step toward the kits and casters behind him. The flock fights as one body, and Bluebell is its braced shoulder: skirmishers dart past his reach, adepts fire over it, and nothing crosses it cheaply. His moon-spear glints with captured moonlight, and a single sweeping thrust can put a whole charging rank on its back. He rarely advances far, his duty is the line, and the warren's strength is that he never has to hold it alone.
Run Bluebell in Sixty Seconds
- Plant the spear then hold the gap so allies within 5 feet get +1 AC from Spearwall.
- Punish the approach then use your bonus-reaction opportunity attack on the first foe to enter reach.
- Stab twice then make two 10-foot moon-spear attacks on whoever pushes in.
- Break the charge then unleash Sweeping Thrust to knock a bunched rank prone.
- Hold, never chase then use Guarding Step to reposition the wall and keep the casters covered.
Bluebell
Medium humanoid (rabbitfolk), lawful good
CR 2 · 450 XP · GUIDELINEStanding Leap. Bluebell's long jump is up to 20 feet and his high jump up to 10 feet, with or without a running start.
Spearwall (signature). Bluebell's reach with his moon-spear is 10 feet. While he is conscious, allies within 5 feet of him gain +1 AC. The first time each turn an enemy enters his reach, he may make an opportunity attack against it with his bonus reaction without using his normal reaction.
Actions
Multiattack. Bluebell makes two moon-spear attacks.
Moon-Spear. Melee Weapon Attack: +5 to hit, reach 10 ft., one target. Hit: 8 (1d8+3, used two-handed) piercing damage plus 3 (1d6) radiant damage.
Sweeping Thrust (recharge 6). Bluebell sweeps the moon-spear in a 10-foot line. Each creature there must succeed on a DC 13 Dexterity saving throw or take 9 (2d8) piercing damage and be knocked prone.
Bonus Actions & Reactions
Guarding Step (bonus). Bluebell moves up to 5 feet without provoking opportunity attacks and braces his spear, gaining +1 AC until the start of his next turn.
A poised rabbit-folk guardian leveling a long moon-tipped spear across his body, weight low, ready to hold any gap in the line.

How It Fights — by Tier
Same creature, scaled threat. The traits never change; only the numbers move.
Plant yourself in the gap and let Spearwall give nearby allies +1 AC. Strike approaching foes with your 10-foot reach, using your bonus-reaction opportunity attack on the first to close. Save Sweeping Thrust for a bunched charge to knock them prone. Hold, do not chase.
Same anchor role, scaled up. Hold the line beside Starshine, punish anyone entering your reach, and sweep prone whole knots of attackers. Keep the casters and Clover safe behind your spear.
Fight as the spear-anchor of a full warren warband, never solo. Wall off the approach to your casters, punish every step into reach, and let the skirmishers strike past you.

How a bound creature acts
- A companion acts on its owner's initiative, immediately after the owner.
- It uses the Companion block above — roughly ×0.6 HP and damage, no recharge abilities, and at most one reaction trait.
- It moves freely; it takes its Action only while its owner is conscious.
- At 0 HP a companion is broken, not dead — restored on a long rest unless your table rules otherwise.

Questions, Asked at the Table
What CR is Bluebell?
Bluebell is CR 2 (450 XP) at his native Tier 1. Tier 2 (~CR 6) and Tier 3 (~CR 11) stat lines let him anchor a higher-level warband.
How does Bluebell fight alongside the rest of the Lunar Cottontails?
He is the warren's spear-guardian, the braced shoulder of the line. He walls off the approach to the casters and kits with his 10-foot reach and Spearwall aura, punishes anyone who closes, and sweeps charges prone, while skirmishers strike past him and adepts fire over him.
Is Bluebell a solo boss?
No. solo_capable is false and he has no legendary actions. He is a defensive anchor whose whole value is holding a line for the flock; run him within a Lunar Cottontails warband, never alone.
