Luna
small spellbook-bearing moon-scholar of the warren
Luna — The Encounter
small spellbook-bearing moon-scholar of the warren · a boss your table can run with almost no prep. SRD 5.1-compatible.
Who Is Luna
Luna is the warren's apprentice-archivist, the cottontail who pores over the moon-script grimoires while her elders sleep. Her open book glows with silvered glyphs that she has copied by moonlight, and she fights by reading them aloud, scorching foes with rays of cold lunar fire. The Lunar Cottontails treasure their written lore above almost everything, and Luna guards it jealously, hurling glyph-bombs to keep enemies away from the warband's scrolls. She is no front-line fighter; she works from behind the skirmishers, marking targets in silver light so the warren's blades know exactly where to strike. Lose Luna, the warren believes, and you lose its memory.
Run Luna in Sixty Seconds
- Close the gap then Luna is squishy artillery and folds fast once you reach her.
- Glyph the cluster then Silvering Glyph hits a 15-foot cube for radiant on round one.
- Ray the priority then Moonfire Ray plus her grimoire bonus burns the toughest foe.
- Watch the recharge then expect another glyph-bomb on a 5 or 6.
- Break her screen then peel the cottontails off her and she has no front line.
Luna
Small humanoid (rabbitfolk), neutral
CR 2 · 450 XP · GUIDELINEMoon-Script Adept. Luna reads the silver script in her open grimoire as a free action; once per turn when she hits a creature with a spell attack, she deals an extra 3 (1d6) radiant damage.
Actions
Multiattack. Luna casts Moonfire Ray and makes one Wand Jab attack.
Moonfire Ray. Ranged Spell Attack: +5 to hit, range 90 ft., one target. Hit: 9 (2d8) radiant damage.
Wand Jab. Melee Weapon Attack: +4 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 5 (1d6+2) force damage.
Silvering Glyph (Recharge 5-6). Luna inscribes a glyph in a 15-foot cube within 60 ft. Each creature in the area must make a DC 13 Dexterity saving throw, taking 14 (4d6) radiant damage on a failure, or half as much on a success.

How It Fights — by Tier
Same creature, scaled threat. The traits never change; only the numbers move.
Luna stays behind the skirmishers, opening with Silvering Glyph on a cluster, then raying the most dangerous foe each turn. Her grimoire makes that ray hurt extra, so close the distance and she folds. She supports the warren, never fights alone.
Run Luna as the warband's artillery: glyph the densest knot of enemies on round one, then Moonfire Ray the hardest target while the cottontails screen her. Keep her ringed by allies. She is part of the flight, not a solo threat.
Luna becomes the warband's nuker, dropping Silvering Glyph every recharge and bonus-radiant rays between. Let the swarm body-block while she burns down priority targets. She fights as part of the warren, never solo.

How a bound creature acts
- A companion acts on its owner's initiative, immediately after the owner.
- It uses the Companion block above — roughly ×0.6 HP and damage, no recharge abilities, and at most one reaction trait.
- It moves freely; it takes its Action only while its owner is conscious.
- At 0 HP a companion is broken, not dead — restored on a long rest unless your table rules otherwise.

Questions, Asked at the Table
What CR is Luna?
Luna is a Challenge Rating 2 spellcaster (450 XP) at her native Tier 1, a small moon-scholar. Tier 2 (~CR 6) and Tier 3 (~CR 11) bands let you scale her artillery up to match your party.
How does Luna fight alongside the rest of the Lunar Cottontails?
Luna is the warband's artillery and lore-keeper. She works from the back rank, dropping radiant glyph-bombs on clustered enemies and burning priority targets with bonus-damage rays while the skirmishers screen her. The warren guards her because she carries their written magic.
Can Luna anchor a fight on her own?
No. She is rank-and-file blaster support with no boss kit and a fragile body. Field her behind a screen of cottontails and let them protect her while she nukes from range.
