Willow
red-eyed talisman spellblade of the warren
Willow — The Encounter
red-eyed talisman spellblade of the warren · a boss your table can run with almost no prep. SRD 5.1-compatible.
Who Is Willow
Willow is one of the Lunar Cottontails' spellblades, the strike-runners who close the distance the casters open. Her embroidered coat marks her as a temple-trained duelist, and the talisman she wields hums with channeled moonlight that flares radiant with every cut. The warren sends Willow ahead of the line to flank and harry, darting through gaps with her Moonstep and burning down whoever the moon-priests have marked. Her red eyes are said to catch the last sliver of any moon, even on the darkest nights. She does not hold ground; she flickers across it, striking and gone again, trusting the swarm of her kin to fill the space behind her. Alone she is exposed, but threaded through a warband she is its keenest blade.
Run Willow in Sixty Seconds
- She goes for the back line then Moonstep lets Willow leap straight to your casters.
- Two strikes plus a bolt then her talisman adds 2d6 radiant once per turn on top.
- She won't stand still then Moonstep Dash carries her out of reach as a bonus action.
- Pin her down then she's fragile if you can stop her from disengaging.
- Kill the marker first then without the priests' marks she loses her best targets.

How It Fights — by Tier
Same creature, scaled threat. The traits never change; only the numbers move.
Willow uses Moonstep to flank the foe the casters marked, lands her radiant talisman strikes, then dashes clear. Keep her darting at the edges of the warband, never standing toe to toe. She is a strike-runner, not a solo.
Open by Moonstepping into the back line and double-striking the marked target for heavy radiant burst, then Charm Bolt anyone she can't reach. Disengage out before it's her turn to be hit. She harries as part of the flight, never alone.
Willow becomes the warband's assassin, flickering to priority targets, bursting them with talisman radiance, and Moonstepping clear before retaliation. Let the swarm hold the line she carves through. Fight as a warband, never solo.

How a bound creature acts
- A companion acts on its owner's initiative, immediately after the owner.
- It uses the Companion block above — roughly ×0.6 HP and damage, no recharge abilities, and at most one reaction trait.
- It moves freely; it takes its Action only while its owner is conscious.
- At 0 HP a companion is broken, not dead — restored on a long rest unless your table rules otherwise.

Questions, Asked at the Table
What CR is Willow?
Willow is a Challenge Rating 6 elite spellblade (2,300 XP) at her native Tier 2. Tier 1 (~CR 2) and Tier 3 (~CR 11) bands let you scale this strike-runner to your table.
How does Willow fight alongside the rest of the Lunar Cottontails?
Willow is the warband's spellblade and flanker. She Moonsteps past the front line to burn down whoever the moon-priests have marked, then disengages before she can be punished, trusting the swarm to hold the ground she cuts through.
Is Willow a solo boss?
No. She is an elite, not a champion, with no legendary actions or punishing reaction. Willow is built to harry from the edges of a warband; field her with other cottontails and let her pick off priority targets.
