Kara
many-winged song-maiden whose chant lifts the whole flight
Kara — The Encounter
many-winged song-maiden whose chant lifts the whole flight · a boss your table can run with almost no prep. SRD 5.1-compatible.
Who Is Kara
Kara is the song over the slaughter, the valkyrie whose chant old verse says shielded her chosen hero and dulled the foe's edge. She carries no weapon she needs; her voice is the weapon, and the Maidens of Valkyria fight to its rhythm. Hovering on a corona of wings, arms outflung, she pours her war-song over the flight so every sister strikes truer and stands firmer, and she lifts the earthbound onto the wind to join the dive. Silence her and the song dies; that is why the warband shields her with their bodies. She is not a champion who duels but the breath that carries the whole flight, the chosen voice the dead rise to follow.
Run Kara in Sixty Seconds
- Open by starting War-Song then every sister within 30 feet adds 1d6 to attacks and saves.
- Sustain the song then take no other action so the buff never drops.
- Lift a grounded ally then Soaring Wings gives them fly 30 to join the dive.
- Save Rallying Hymn for fear then grant temp HP and break charm or fright across the flight.

How It Fights — by Tier
Same creature, scaled threat. The traits never change; only the numbers move.
Kara hovers behind a small flight and sustains War-Song so her sisters strike better. She lobs Radiant Bolts only when the song can spare a turn. She is a fragile singer and fights solely with the warband.
Keep War-Song running every round so the whole flight gets +1d6, and use Lift on Soaring Wings to put a grounded ally into the air. Break out Rallying Hymn when fear or charm threatens the warband. Stay behind your sisters; if she falls, the song falls with her.
Treat Kara as the warband's voice: sustain War-Song without pause, lift sisters skyward, and cleanse fear with Rallying Hymn. She has no legendary actions and cannot survive the spotlight, so she always sings from the protected center of the flight, never alone.

How a bound creature acts
- A companion acts on its owner's initiative, immediately after the owner.
- It uses the Companion block above — roughly ×0.6 HP and damage, no recharge abilities, and at most one reaction trait.
- It moves freely; it takes its Action only while its owner is conscious.
- At 0 HP a companion is broken, not dead — restored on a long rest unless your table rules otherwise.

Questions, Asked at the Table
What CR is Kara?
Kara is CR 6 at her native Tier 2 (AC 15, HP 105), a song-buffer support elite. The tier tables scale her toward CR 2 for low play and CR 11 for high tables.
How does Kara fight alongside the rest of the Maidens of Valkyria?
She is the flight's voice. War-Song boosts every sister's attacks and saves, Soaring Wings puts allies in the air, and Rallying Hymn cleanses fear and charm. The warband fights to her rhythm and shields her so the song never stops.
Should Kara be used as a solo boss?
No. She has no legendary actions and almost no offense; her entire kit empowers allies. Silenced or isolated she is harmless, so she must be faced with the warband.
