Prima
gold-clad winged lancer leading the charge from a winged steed
Prima — The Encounter
gold-clad winged lancer leading the charge from a winged steed · a boss your table can run with almost no prep. SRD 5.1-compatible.
Who Is Prima
Prima earns her name by always being first across the sky-line of battle. When the Maidens of Valkyria stoop upon a doomed host, it is her gold-armored shape the enemy sees foremost, greatsword high, winged steed screaming out of the cloud. The other maidens form on her like a spear's head forms on its point. She is no lone champion: her worth is the charge she leads, the courage her banner lends the flight, and the breach her steed batters open for her sisters to pour through. Skalds say the sky itself tilts toward wherever Prima points her blade, and the chosen dead gather to follow her down.
Run Prima in Sixty Seconds
- Open with a 20-foot diving charge then Skyborne Charge adds 2d10 and a DC 14 prone save.
- Knock the priority target prone then your sisters pile in with advantage while it is down.
- Keep allies within 30 feet then Vanguard's Banner gives them advantage against being frightened.
- Dive, strike, climb out then wheel for another charge instead of trading blows on the ground.
Prima
Large celestial, lawful neutral
CR 7 · 2,900 XP · GUIDELINESkyborne Charge (signature). If Prima's winged steed flies at least 20 feet straight toward a target before she hits it with the greatsword, the target takes an extra 11 (2d10) slashing damage and must succeed on a DC 14 Strength save or be knocked prone.
Vanguard's Banner. Allies within 30 feet of Prima have advantage on saving throws against being frightened.

How It Fights — by Tier
Same creature, scaled threat. The traits never change; only the numbers move.
Prima leads a small flight in a single diving charge, then wheels for another pass. Open with Skyborne Charge on the toughest-looking foe to knock it prone for her sisters. She charges with the warband, never picking solo duels.
Use the steed's flight to set up Skyborne Charge every round, diving in, knocking a key target prone, then climbing out. Vanguard's Banner keeps the flight fearless behind her. She is the tip of the warband's charge, not a duelist.
Lead the whole warband in repeated diving charges, opening each turn with Skyborne Charge to floor a priority enemy. Keep allies inside Vanguard's Banner so fear never breaks the flight. Prima fights as the warband's spearhead and retreats to re-charge rather than ever standing alone.

How a bound creature acts
- A companion acts on its owner's initiative, immediately after the owner.
- It uses the Companion block above — roughly ×0.6 HP and damage, no recharge abilities, and at most one reaction trait.
- It moves freely; it takes its Action only while its owner is conscious.
- At 0 HP a companion is broken, not dead — restored on a long rest unless your table rules otherwise.

Questions, Asked at the Table
What CR is Prima?
Prima is CR 7 at her native Tier 2 (AC 18, HP 136), a mounted charger elite. The tier tables scale her down toward CR 2 for low play or up toward CR 11 for high tables.
How does Prima fight alongside the rest of the Maidens of Valkyria?
She is the spearhead. Prima leads the flight's diving charge, knocks priority foes prone with Skyborne Charge, and steadies her sisters with Vanguard's Banner so the whole warband strikes as one.
Can Prima be run as a solo boss?
Not really. She has no legendary actions and her power is the charge she leads. Without sisters to exploit the prone targets she sets up, she is just a strong skirmisher and should be fielded with the warband.
