Sigrun
sky-blue winged duelist who dances the air over the slain
Sigrun — The Encounter
sky-blue winged duelist who dances the air over the slain · a boss your table can run with almost no prep. SRD 5.1-compatible.
Who Is Sigrun
Sigrun's name means victory-rune, and the verse remembers her loving a doomed hero and riding to him through storm and slaughter. In the flight she is the swiftest blade, the aerial dancer who stoops on a foe, opens a wound, and is already climbing away on the next gust. She picks the enemies who threaten her slower sisters and harries them from above, never lighting long enough to be caught. The Maidens of Valkyria use her as their loose wing, the harrier who breaks an enemy's footing so the heavier maidens can land the killing blow. Alone she is a single swift sword; with the warband she is the gust that scatters the foe before the storm.
Run Sigrun in Sixty Seconds
- Open with a 20-foot dive then Diving Duelist adds 2d10 and a free fly-away.
- Hit the foe menacing a slower sister then climb out before it can answer.
- Stay airborne then Wind-Borne Reflexes gives bonus-action Dash or Disengage and Dex-save advantage.
- Parry the big swing then Aerial Parry adds 3 AC while flying, then peel off again.
Sigrun
Medium celestial, lawful neutral
CR 6 · 2,300 XP · GUIDELINEDiving Duelist (signature). If Sigrun flies at least 20 feet straight toward a target before hitting it with her sword this turn, the strike deals an extra 11 (2d10) slashing damage and she can fly up to half her speed without provoking opportunity attacks.
Wind-Borne Reflexes. Sigrun can take the Dash or Disengage action as a bonus action while flying, and has advantage on Dexterity saving throws.
Actions
Multiattack. Sigrun makes two sword attacks.
Sky-Sword. Melee Weapon Attack: +7 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 15 (2d8+4) slashing damage plus 4 (1d8) radiant damage.
Bonus Actions & Reactions
Aerial Parry (Reaction). When hit by a melee attack, Sigrun adds 3 to her AC against it, banking on the wind; she must be flying to use this.
A sky-blue blur of wings, she dives, cuts, and is gone again before the foe can turn, dancing the air above her sisters.

How It Fights — by Tier
Same creature, scaled threat. The traits never change; only the numbers move.
Sigrun dives on a foe threatening a slower sister, cuts with Diving Duelist, and uses bonus-action Disengage to climb away. She harries from the air and never lands among enemies. She fights as the warband's loose wing.
Each round, dive at least 20 feet for Diving Duelist on whoever menaces the flight, then peel off with Wind-Borne Reflexes. Use Aerial Parry to shrug a heavy blow while airborne. Hit and climb; she is a harrier, not a stand-and-fight duelist.
Run Sigrun as the warband's harrier: dive on priority foes with Diving Duelist, soften them for the heavier sisters, and never stay grounded. She has no legendary actions and survives by motion, fighting as part of the flight rather than ever trading blows solo.

How a bound creature acts
- A companion acts on its owner's initiative, immediately after the owner.
- It uses the Companion block above — roughly ×0.6 HP and damage, no recharge abilities, and at most one reaction trait.
- It moves freely; it takes its Action only while its owner is conscious.
- At 0 HP a companion is broken, not dead — restored on a long rest unless your table rules otherwise.

Questions, Asked at the Table
What CR is Sigrun?
Sigrun is CR 6 at her native Tier 2 (AC 17, HP 114), an aerial hit-and-run harrier elite. The tier tables scale her toward CR 2 for low play and CR 11 for high tables.
How does Sigrun fight alongside the rest of the Maidens of Valkyria?
She is the flight's loose wing. Sigrun dives on foes threatening slower sisters, opens wounds, and climbs clear, breaking the enemy's footing so the heavier maidens can finish them.
Is Sigrun a solo boss?
No. She has no legendary actions and relies on motion and allies to finish what she starts. Pinned or alone she is just one swift sword, so she should be faced with the warband.
