Larc
rune-blooded duelist bearing a crystal greatsword
Larc — The Encounter
rune-blooded duelist bearing a crystal greatsword · a boss your table can run with almost no prep. SRD 5.1-compatible.
Who Is Larc
Larc is the Methuselans' bright edge, a swordsman whose face still reads young though his sword-arm has the certainty of generations. The crystal greatsword he carries is a relic of the line, glowing brighter the longer a battle runs, and he wields it as a precise dueling weapon rather than a butcher's tool. In the warband he is the answer to the enemy's best blade: while the heavy champions hold the wall, Larc steps out to single-cut whichever foe the line most fears. His elders call him the spark that keeps the deathless lineage from growing old in spirit.
Run Larc in Sixty Seconds
- Mark the enemy ace then send Larc to duel the foe the rest of the line most fears.
- Hit to reveal then Radiant Edge sheds light and cancels invisibility against him.
- Slip the reach then Veteran Footwork lets him reposition without provoking.
- Two radiant cuts then his Multiattack adds 1d8 radiant on each strike.

Medium humanoid (human), neutral good
CR 6 · 2,300 XP · GUIDELINERadiant Edge (signature). Larc's crystal greatsword deals an extra 4 (1d8) radiant damage (included below). Once per turn, when he hits a creature, it sheds dim light in a 10-foot radius until the start of his next turn and cannot benefit from being invisible against him.
Veteran Footwork. Larc does not provoke opportunity attacks when he moves out of an enemy's reach.

How It Fights — by Tier
Same creature, scaled threat. The traits never change; only the numbers move.
Point Larc at the enemy's deadliest melee fighter and let Veteran Footwork keep him mobile. Radiant Edge lights up hidden or invisible foes so the warband can pile on. He is the line's dueling answer, not a solo hero.
Engage the foe the warband fears most, two greatsword swings a turn with radiant bite. Use the dim-light tag to deny invisibility and free-move away from sticky enemies with Veteran Footwork. Fight him beside the heavy Methuselan line, dueling their chosen target.
Same kit, scaled up. Larc isolates and out-fences the enemy champion, lighting it up for the warband and slipping reach when pressed. He carries the duel while the line holds; never run him alone.

How a bound creature acts
- A companion acts on its owner's initiative, immediately after the owner.
- It uses the Companion block above — roughly ×0.6 HP and damage, no recharge abilities, and at most one reaction trait.
- It moves freely; it takes its Action only while its owner is conscious.
- At 0 HP a companion is broken, not dead — restored on a long rest unless your table rules otherwise.

Questions, Asked at the Table
What CR is Larc?
Larc is CR 6 at his native Tier 2 (2,300 XP). Move his AC, HP, to-hit and save DC to the Tier 1 or Tier 3 bands to suit your table.
How does Larc fight alongside the rest of the Methuselans?
He is the line's duelist. While the heavy champions anchor the wall, Larc steps out to fence the enemy's best blade and light up hidden foes for the warband.
Is Larc a solo boss?
No. He has no legendary actions; field him as a dueling specialist within a Methuselan warband rather than as a lone fight.
