Bam Bam — The Encounter

tide-calling banner-cub of the panda village-guard · a boss your table can run with almost no prep. SRD 5.1-compatible.

Who Is Bam Bam

Bam Bam is the smallest of the panda village-guard and its proudest heart, the cub chosen to raise the twin war-banners and call the tide. Perched atop the shrine-stone, this little warrior holds the standards that tell the whole formation where to stand and rally, while the sacred waters of the village rise at the banners' command to drown the approach. The elders gave the role to Bam Bam because courage, not size, holds a banner aloft under fire. The guard fights better in its shadow and never lets it fall; should the banners drop, the line loses its anchor. Where Bam Bam stands, the water answers.

Standard-Bearer. Allies within 20 feet of Bam Bam's raised banners have advantage on saving throws against being frightened and gain a +1 bonus to attack rolls.

Surge of the Tide. The water that answers Bam Bam's banners is difficult terrain for Bam Bam's enemies within 15 feet of it.

Actions

Multiattack. Bam Bam makes two Banner-Pole attacks, or makes one Banner-Pole attack and uses Rising Wave if available.

Banner-Pole. Melee Weapon Attack: +5 to hit, reach 10 ft., one target. Hit: 9 (2d6+2) bludgeoning damage.

Rising Wave (Recharge 5-6). Bam Bam calls a surge of water in a 15-foot cone. Each creature there must make a DC 14 Strength save, taking 14 (4d6) bludgeoning damage and being pushed 10 feet and knocked prone on a failure, or half damage on a success.

Bonus Actions & Reactions

Hold the Banners. When an ally within 20 feet is reduced to 0 hit points, Bam Bam can use its reaction to stabilize that ally and let it make its next death save with advantage.

Small but unflinching, Bam Bam plants the twin banners and calls the rising water to the line's defense.

How It Fights — by Tier

Same creature, scaled threat. The traits never change; only the numbers move.

Tier 1Levels 1-4 · GUIDELINE
AC14HP44 (8d6+16) To-hit+4Save DC12

Set Bam Bam on high ground behind the line and keep the banners up so allies within 20 ft. get the attack bonus and fear ward. Jab approachers with the long banner-pole. It is the warband's standard, never a solo combatant.

Tier 2Levels 5-10 · NATIVE
AC16HP97 (15d6+45) To-hit+5Save DC14

Open by planting within 20 feet of the guard so Standard-Bearer buffs the whole line, then call Rising Wave on the densest approach to knock it prone and flood the ground. Use Hold the Banners to save the first ally who drops. Stay back; the banners are the warband's anchor.

Tier 3Levels 11-15 · GUIDELINE
AC18HP157 (23d6+69) To-hit+8Save DC16

Bam Bam becomes the rallying point of the whole village-guard, buffing, flooding approaches, and rescuing the fallen. It fights as the warband's banner, never alone. Keep it guarded; if the standards fall the formation falters.

Questions, Asked at the Table

What CR is Bam Bam?

Bam Bam is CR 5 (1,800 XP) at its native Tier 2, with Tier 1 and Tier 3 numbers provided.

How does Bam Bam fight alongside the rest of the PON Village?

It is the standard-bearer and tide-caller: it raises the twin banners to buff and rally the village-guard, floods enemy approaches with rising water, and rescues fallen allies. It anchors the formation rather than fighting solo.

Is Bam Bam a boss?

No. Despite the dramatic water base, it is an elite support standard-bearer with no legendary actions; protect it as the warband's rallying point.
