Fungslide
crouching tumble-brawler of the fungal warband
Fungslide — The Encounter
crouching tumble-brawler of the fungal warband · a boss your table can run with almost no prep. SRD 5.1-compatible.
Who Is Fungslide
The Fungslide is the warband's tumbler, a squat powerhouse that fights from a crouch and slides beneath swinging weapons to shatter knees and footing. A heavy stone maul does the breaking; a gnarled branch club sweeps legs and drops foes flat for the bruisers behind it. Its low stance makes it near impossible to topple, and a deep wound bursts its cap into a choking cloud. Grove-lore knows it as the under-cap, the one that comes in below the shield-line where the tall caps cannot reach. It works best churning a melee already joined, never out front alone, sliding from foe to foe to keep the whole front rank stumbling.
Run Fungslide in Sixty Seconds
- Slide in low then maul an engaged target the line can't protect.
- Sweep the legs then Branch Club knocks foes prone for the bruisers.
- Stay upright then Low Stance shrugs off shoves and trips.
- When bloodied then Spore Bloom poisons everyone crowding you.
Fungslide
Medium plant, neutral
CR 2 · 450 XP · GUIDELINELow Stance. The Fungslide has advantage on saving throws against being shoved or knocked prone, and it can stand from prone using only 5 feet of movement.
Spore Bloom. The first time the Fungslide is bloodied, spores burst from its cap. Each creature within 5 feet must succeed on a DC 13 Constitution save or be poisoned until the end of its next turn.
Actions
Multiattack. The Fungslide makes one Stone Maul attack and one Branch Club attack.
Stone Maul. Melee Weapon Attack: +5 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 10 (2d6+3) bludgeoning damage.
Branch Club. Melee Weapon Attack: +5 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 7 (1d8+3) bludgeoning damage, and the target must succeed on a DC 13 Strength save or be knocked prone.
Bonus Actions & Reactions
Slide Step. Bonus Action. The Fungslide moves up to 10 feet without provoking opportunity attacks.
A low, coiled cap-brawler caught mid-lunge, stone maul cocked and gnarled club swinging, sliding under reach to crack legs out from under the line.

How It Fights — by Tier
Same creature, scaled threat. The traits never change; only the numbers move.
Slide into an engaged target, maul it, then sweep with the club to knock it prone for the bruisers. Use Slide Step to move freely between foes, and stay near allies so Spore Bloom hits a crowd when you're bloodied.
Churn the joined melee alongside the pack, knocking foes prone for Gloomcaps and Mosskels to exploit. Slide between targets to spread the disruption; never push out ahead of the line.
Fight as the disruptor of a full warband. Drop the front rank prone, keep them stumbling, and let the heavy caps reap. It anchors low in the scrum, not solo on the field.

How a bound creature acts
- A companion acts on its owner's initiative, immediately after the owner.
- It uses the Companion block above — roughly ×0.6 HP and damage, no recharge abilities, and at most one reaction trait.
- It moves freely; it takes its Action only while its owner is conscious.
- At 0 HP a companion is broken, not dead — restored on a long rest unless your table rules otherwise.

Questions, Asked at the Table
What CR is Fungslide?
Fungslide is CR 2 (450 XP) at native Tier 1. Scale to AC 16 / ~126 HP for Tier 2 or AC 18 / ~189 HP for Tier 3; the traits stay the same and only the numbers move.
How does Fungslide fight alongside the rest of the Shroomkin?
It disrupts. The Fungslide slides into joined melees, knocks foes prone, and keeps the front rank stumbling so Gloomcaps and Mosskels can reap. It is the warband's low-line brawler.
Is Fungslide a solo threat?
No. It has no legendary actions and exists to disrupt a melee the rest of the warband is fighting. Run it in the scrum, not alone.
