Shiitakler
cloaked running blade of the fungal warband
Shiitakler — The Encounter
cloaked running blade of the fungal warband · a boss your table can run with almost no prep. SRD 5.1-compatible.
Who Is Shiitakler
The Shiitakler is the warband's runner-blade, fastest of the caps and built to strike where the host is not looking. Its drifting spore-cloak smears its outline at distance and lets it vanish between sprints, and it hits hardest at the end of a charge. Where the Sporothorn duels in the press, the Shiitakler ranges wide, sprinting around a flank to gut a caster or messenger and fade before the answer comes. Grove-lore calls it the running shade of the colony, the one a foe glimpses only as a blur and a wound. It is a raider, not a holder; it lives on speed and surprise and dies if cornered, so it never stops moving and never strays from the pack's reach for long.
Run Shiitakler in Sixty Seconds
- Charge soft targets then Pounce Strike adds a die at the end of a sprint.
- Hit and fade then use the cloak to Hide before the answer lands.
- Raid the back line then gut casters and stragglers, not the front.
- Keep running then never get cornered; speed is its armor.
Shiitakler
Medium plant, neutral
CR 2 · 450 XP · GUIDELINESpore Cloak. While the Shiitakler's cloak is intact, it can take the Hide action as a bonus action and is lightly obscured to creatures more than 15 feet away.
Pounce Strike. If the Shiitakler moves at least 20 feet straight toward a target and hits it with a Blade attack on the same turn, the attack deals an extra 4 (1d8) slashing damage.
Actions
Multiattack. The Shiitakler makes two Blade attacks.
Blade. Melee Weapon Attack: +5 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 7 (1d8+3) slashing damage.
Cap Dart. Ranged Weapon Attack: +5 to hit, range 20/60 ft., one target. Hit: 6 (1d6+3) poison damage.
Bonus Actions & Reactions
Fade. Bonus Action (Spore Cloak). The Shiitakler takes the Hide action.
A sprinting capped raider in a billowing spore-cloak, blade leveled mid-charge, here and gone before the line can wheel to face it.

How It Fights — by Tier
Same creature, scaled threat. The traits never change; only the numbers move.
Charge a soft target for the Pounce Strike bonus, hit twice, then Fade behind cover. Use the 40 ft. speed to reach casters and stragglers, and the cloak to disappear before they retaliate.
Run as the raiding wing of the pack: loop around flanks to assassinate support while the heavy caps fix the front. Pounce, fade, and re-engage; never stand and trade with a healthy foe.
Fight as the deep-strike runner of the warband. Hunt the enemy back line, sow chaos, and vanish; solo and cornered it dies, so keep it ranging just ahead of the colony's reach.

How a bound creature acts
- A companion acts on its owner's initiative, immediately after the owner.
- It uses the Companion block above — roughly ×0.6 HP and damage, no recharge abilities, and at most one reaction trait.
- It moves freely; it takes its Action only while its owner is conscious.
- At 0 HP a companion is broken, not dead — restored on a long rest unless your table rules otherwise.

Questions, Asked at the Table
What CR is Shiitakler?
Shiitakler is CR 2 (450 XP) at native Tier 1. Use AC 16 / ~119 HP for Tier 2 or AC 18 / ~196 HP for Tier 3; traits are identical and only the numbers scale.
How does Shiitakler fight alongside the rest of the Shroomkin?
It raids. While the heavy caps fix the front, the Shiitakler sprints around flanks to assassinate casters and stragglers, then fades. It is the warband's fast deep-strike blade.
Is Shiitakler a solo threat?
No. It is a fragile hit-and-run raider with no legendary actions. Cornered it dies; run it as the running wing of a mixed warband.
