Echozera
raised-blade duelist who rallies the Thorjacks' charge
Echozera — The Encounter
raised-blade duelist who rallies the Thorjacks' charge · a boss your table can run with almost no prep. SRD 5.1-compatible.
Who Is Echozera
The raised blade is a Thorjack signal as old as the storm-songs, and Echozera carries it best. The lowland grimoires name her the Herald, the swift duelist who lifts her sword so the warband knows the instant to strike together. She is quick where the hammer-bearers are slow, weaving between foes with a longsword in one hand and a reversed dagger in the other, and her cry pulls a single brutal blow out of whichever kinsman stands ready. Her riposte punishes those who swing at her and miss, but she is no lone hero; her signal is worthless without a warband to answer it. Keep her amid the Thorjacks and she turns their many blades into one falling stroke. Cut her off and she is merely a fast sword among many.
Run Echozera in Sixty Seconds
- Raise the blade then use Storm-Herald's Cry each turn to give a nearby Thorjack a free reaction attack.
- Punish the miss then Riposte any melee attacker within 5 ft. that swings and misses her.
- Stay rally-close then keep her within 30 ft. of allies so her cry always has someone to answer.
- Flick the dagger then throw her dagger at fleeing casters or archers when no melee target is in reach.
Echozera

How It Fights — by Tier
Same creature, scaled threat. The traits never change; only the numbers move.
Keep Echozera within 30 ft. of other Thorjacks so Storm-Herald's Cry triggers a free ally attack each turn. Let foes swing and miss her so Riposte bites back. She is the rally-point, weaving through the line rather than charging out solo.
Open by engaging beside the warband and raising her blade so a hammer-bearer or reaver gets a reaction strike. Punish melee misses with Riposte and flick daggers at fleeing casters. Run her as the signal that times the warband's blows, never as a lone duelist.
Run her as the warband's herald: she fights in the thick of the wedge, raising her blade each turn to pull a free strike from a ready kinsman and riposting every missed blow. She is part of the pack, never solo. Her cry is only worth anything with Thorjacks nearby to answer it.

How a bound creature acts
- A companion acts on its owner's initiative, immediately after the owner.
- It uses the Companion block above — roughly ×0.6 HP and damage, no recharge abilities, and at most one reaction trait.
- It moves freely; it takes its Action only while its owner is conscious.
- At 0 HP a companion is broken, not dead — restored on a long rest unless your table rules otherwise.

Questions, Asked at the Table
What CR is Echozera?
Echozera is CR 5 (1,800 XP) at her native Tier 2, a rallying duelist rather than a solo boss. Scale to AC 14 / +4 for Tier 1 or AC 19 / +9 for Tier 3.
How does Echozera fight alongside the rest of the Thorjacks?
She is the warband's herald: each turn she raises her blade to pull a free reaction strike out of a nearby Thorjack, turning the warband's many weapons into one timed stroke. She weaves through the line riposting misses, never charging off alone.
Is Echozera dangerous on her own?
Only modestly. Her best trait, Storm-Herald's Cry, does nothing without allies in range to answer it. Isolated she is just a fast sword with a riposte, far less than she is amid the warband.
