Xander Force
twin-blade storm-skirmisher of the Thorjacks' flank
Xander Force — The Encounter
twin-blade storm-skirmisher of the Thorjacks' flank · a boss your table can run with almost no prep. SRD 5.1-compatible.
Who Is Xander Force
Among the Thorjacks, the storm has two voices: the hammer's roar and the blade's whisper. Xander Force is the whisper. The lowland chroniclers mark him as the one who slips wide of the wedge while Juswa sounds the charge, cutting down archers and stragglers before they can loose on the shield-line. The storm-iron crest on his back is said to draw the thunder down into his scimitars, so that every paired strike rings like a far-off peal. He fights as a flanker, not a champion: he relies on the warband's mass to pin foes in place while he dances around the edge. Cut him off from his kin and he is fast, but alone he tires; in the wedge, he is the open wound the Thorjacks leave behind.
Run Xander Force in Sixty Seconds
- Go wide then send Xander around the flank to reach archers and casters, not the front line.
- Land both blades then trigger Twin Tempest for the bonus thunder whenever both scimitars hit.
- Use the bonus action then Tempest Step to Disengage out after striking so he keeps his speed.
- Lean on the pack then stay adjacent to a foe another Thorjack threatens so Storm-Dancer frees his movement.

Twin Tempest. Once per turn, when Xander hits a creature with both his blades in the same turn, the target takes an extra 7 (2d6) thunder damage.

A hooded raider with a crackling crest of storm-iron, twin curved blades spread wide as he reads the flank for an opening.

How It Fights — by Tier
Same creature, scaled threat. The traits never change; only the numbers move.
Send Xander wide of the warband to harry archers and casters, using Tempest Step to dart in and out. Keep him adjacent to enemies the other Thorjacks already threaten so Storm-Dancer lets him reposition freely; never let him brawl alone in the open.
Open by flanking the most fragile target, land both scimitars to trigger Twin Tempest, then Tempest Step away before the counter. Let the shield-bearers hold the line while he peels off the back rank. He is a skirmisher in the pack, not a duelist.
Run him as the warband's flanking blade: he loops behind the enemy while the wedge fixes them, hurling scimitars at runners and exploding both blades into anyone caught alone. Keep him paired with the warband's mass; if surrounded with no Thorjack near, he disengages and resets.

How a bound creature acts
- A companion acts on its owner's initiative, immediately after the owner.
- It uses the Companion block above — roughly ×0.6 HP and damage, no recharge abilities, and at most one reaction trait.
- It moves freely; it takes its Action only while its owner is conscious.
- At 0 HP a companion is broken, not dead — restored on a long rest unless your table rules otherwise.

Questions, Asked at the Table
What CR is Xander Force?
Xander Force is CR 5 (1,800 XP) at his native Tier 2, a mobile dual-wield skirmisher and not a solo threat. Use AC 14 / +4 for Tier 1 or AC 18 / +9 for Tier 3.
How does Xander Force fight alongside the rest of the Thorjacks?
He works the flank while the warband fixes the enemy in place: the shield-bearers and Juswa pin the foe, and Xander darts around the edge to kill back-rank archers and casters, leaning on Storm-Dancer to slip away unpunished.
Can Xander Force fight as a duelist?
Not well alone. His kit assumes allies nearby so Storm-Dancer and his hit-and-run pattern work. One-on-one in the open he loses the free movement that makes him dangerous.
