Bulbul Sasabun
skull-belted maul-breaker of the green horde
Bulbul Sasabun — The Encounter
skull-belted maul-breaker of the green horde · a boss your table can run with almost no prep. SRD 5.1-compatible.
Who Is Bulbul Sasabun
Bulbul Sasabun is the hammer the Ugok Warlords swing when a wall, a door, or a hero needs to stop existing. His maul is salvaged from some broken siege engine, and the skulls knotted to his belt are the trophies of those who thought armor would save them. In the warband he holds the center, smashing through the toughest defender so the lighter orcs can stream past on either side. He is slow and he does not care; the green horde times its rush to his swing. When his maul comes down and a foe drops stunned, the whole line howls and surges over the gap.
Run Bulbul Sasabun in Sixty Seconds
- He is the warband's wall-breaker then point him at the toughest defender and swing.
- Open with a shove then DC 15 Strength or the target gets knocked 10 ft. out of formation.
- Crits stun then on a crit it's DC 15 Con or stunned, and the horde floods over the opening.
- When bloodied then he plants his feet, refuses to move, and lets lighter orcs swarm past him.

How It Fights — by Tier
Same creature, scaled threat. The traits never change; only the numbers move.
Aim him at the party's tank and let him pound through it while the rest of the warband flows around the broken flank. Knock-back keeps the front line where his orcs want it.
Hold the center of the warband line. Smash the heaviest defender, shove it off objectives, and pray for the crit-stun that lets the horde pour through. He is a battering ram, not a duelist.
Run him as the warband's anvil: pin the front-liner, shove allies of the party out of their formation, and let the orc tide exploit every gap. Never peel him off to chase alone.

How a bound creature acts
- A companion acts on its owner's initiative, immediately after the owner.
- It uses the Companion block above — roughly ×0.6 HP and damage, no recharge abilities, and at most one reaction trait.
- It moves freely; it takes its Action only while its owner is conscious.
- At 0 HP a companion is broken, not dead — restored on a long rest unless your table rules otherwise.

Questions, Asked at the Table
What CR is Bulbul Sasabun?
His native rank is Tier 2, CR 6 (2,300 XP). Use the tier table for CR 2 or up-scaled CR 9 versions to match your party.
How does Bulbul Sasabun fight alongside the rest of the Ugok Warlords?
He anchors the center and breaks the enemy's strongest line. His shove and crit-stun create the gaps that lighter, faster orcs like Jkol Uten pour through. He is a frontline brute, not a leader.
Is the push automatic?
No, it only triggers on a hit and the target gets a DC 15 Strength save. Large or smaller creatures that fail are shoved 10 ft.; bigger creatures ignore it.
