Galadran
spear-and-shield bannerman holding the Visarian line
Galadran — The Encounter
spear-and-shield bannerman holding the Visarian line · a boss your table can run with almost no prep. SRD 5.1-compatible.
Who Is Galadran
Galadran carries the heraldry of the Visarian line on his shield and the weight of holding its battle-front on his shoulders. Wingless and unglamorous beside the flying duelists, he is nonetheless the spine of the warband, the noble who plants himself where the line must not break. His ten-foot reach keeps the showier members fed with targets while shielding them from the worst of the reply. The court mocks him as a doorman, yet every one of them retreats to his shadow when a battle sours. He fights shoulder to shoulder, never as a lone hero; that is precisely the point of him.

CR 5 · 1,800 XP · GUIDELINEPhalanx Reach (signature). While Galadran wields his spear in two hands or with a shield, his reach with it is 10 feet, and allied nobles within 5 feet of him gain +1 AC from his guarding stance.

How It Fights — by Tier
Same creature, scaled threat. The traits never change; only the numbers move.
Plant in a doorway or chokepoint, jab at 10 feet, and Shield Bash anyone who closes. He buffs nearby nobles' AC, so keep them clustered.
Hold the front while flyers and the assassin work around him. Brace against the first charger for the bonus 2d6, then Shield Bash to spoil attacks. Anchor the warband, do not chase.
Run him as the warband's wall: he and the other shield nobles form a line the party must break through while the duelists strike from the wings. Never send him out alone.

How a bound creature acts
- A companion acts on its owner's initiative, immediately after the owner.
- It uses the Companion block above — roughly ×0.6 HP and damage, no recharge abilities, and at most one reaction trait.
- It moves freely; it takes its Action only while its owner is conscious.
- At 0 HP a companion is broken, not dead — restored on a long rest unless your table rules otherwise.

Questions, Asked at the Table
What CR is Galadran?
He is built as CR 5 at his native Tier 2 (AC 17, 114 HP). Scale to Tier 1 or Tier 3 with the tier table.
How does Galadran fight alongside the rest of the Visarian Nobles?
He anchors the line with a 10-ft spear and a guarding stance that buffs adjacent nobles' AC, holding the front so the flyers and assassin can strike freely.
Is Galadran a boss?
No. He is a wingless line-holding elite (solo_capable=false) meant to anchor the warband, not fight alone.
