The town's voice, with a supernatural edge — he can steady, move, or gather a crowd with uncanny ease. His horror is that he doesn't know whether the gift is his or a leash. His arc is the discovery that his greatest strength may be the enemy's tool, and the choice to lay it down rather than be its instrument.
