Flicker — the Step Between
The motion between motions. The third Herald of Prince Seere’s Court.
The Lore of Flicker
When Seere moves from point A to point B, there is a space between. Not distance — something smaller. A between. Flicker is what happens in that between.
It exists only in transit. It has no position, only direction. It cannot stop. If it stops, it doesn’t die — it simply was never there.
To witness Flicker is to see something that is perpetually in the act of arriving but never present. It is the step between steps — the motion that happens after you lift your foot and before you place it down. It doesn’t walk the earth. It walks the gap.
Flicker is the Herald that proves Seere’s movement is not continuous — there are fractures in it, and in those fractures, things live.
Those discarded fragments do not die. They linger where he left them, half-made, and in time they stand up. This is the secret the grimoires bury: every member of the Court was once a part of Seere that he dropped and never returned for.
Role in the Court
Flicker is the third Herald — perhaps the strangest of the four. Where Haste is the beginning and Speed is the ceiling, Flicker is the gap. It occupies the space that shouldn’t exist — the impossible interval between two points of motion.
Philosophers who study the Court say Flicker is evidence that Seere’s velocity is not smooth but fractured — a strobe rather than a beam. In each dark interval between flashes, something persists. Flicker is that persistence. It is the proof that even infinite speed has seams.
