The Haloed Warden
Seere’s abandoned sanctity. The scar where divinity was ripped away.
The Lore of the Haloed Warden
The Haloed Warden was once Seere’s sanctity — his connection to the divine order, the faint glow of grace that even a demon prince carries as a memory of what he was before the Fall. Seere moved so fast that even his holiness couldn’t follow. It stayed behind, a ring of light with nothing inside it.
The Warden guards the threshold between the profane and the sacred within Seere’s domain. Where it stands, the line between demon and angel still trembles.
Its halo is not a sign of purity — it is a scar. The place where divinity was ripped away and the wound never healed. It glows not because it is holy, but because the absence of holiness still burns.
The Warden does not speak. It does not judge. It simply stands at the border and remembers what it was like to be whole. Every demon who passes it feels, for a single heartbeat, what they lost when they fell. Most of them never come back.
Role in the Court
The Haloed Warden is the third Guardian — and the most unsettling. Where the Gilded Sentinel guards value and the Hornéd Marshal guards order, the Warden guards the memory of grace itself. It is the only member of the Court that retains any trace of the divine — and that trace is not a blessing. It is a wound.
Other demons avoid the Warden. Its presence is a reminder of the cost of the Fall — a mirror that shows not what you are, but what you were. In Seere’s court, where everything moves too fast to feel, the Warden is the one thing that forces you to stop and remember.
