Belit
Belit — The Encounter
Pirate Queen of the Black Coast, scourge of the corsair seas · a boss your table can run with almost no prep. SRD 5.1-compatible.
Who Is Belit
They name her the Pirate Queen of the Black Coast, and along those tide-cut shores her painted galley is a thing of terror. Born of a merchant clan and turned wholly to the corsair's trade, Belit took the sea as her birthright, her cutlass-arm so swift that grown reavers begged for the oar-bench rather than face her on a heaving deck. She fights as the surf fights — never where the blow lands, always at the unguarded flank, her lash snapping out to drag a man off his feet before the scimitar finds his throat. Her crew follow her past all reason, for she has never once turned from a fight nor abandoned one who bled for her. Gold she scatters like spray; loyalty she hoards. Sailors swear her devotion outlasts the grave, that even slain she would claw back through the dark to stand once more between her beloved and the spears of the enemy.
Run Belit in Sixty Seconds
- What she is a Dexterity skirmisher-duelist, not a tank — a 40-ft. mover who fights from the flanks and never stands in one place.
- Open with the Lash 15-ft. reach, drag a Large-or-smaller target 10 ft. toward her and knock it prone, isolating their caster or healer before the party can react.
- Kill-priority she hunts the back line — Corsair's Mark adds 3d8 to a fresh or bloodied target, so she rewards you for finishing what she starts.
- When bloodied lean on Riposte and Cutthroat's Step (Dash/Disengage) to dance out of the grind; she trades position for time, not blows.
- Three ways to run her (1) corsair captain leading a deck of raiders, (2) a flanking blade paired with a heavier brute, (3) a rival the party can parley or duel — she is loyal, not bloodthirsty.
Belit
Medium humanoid (human), chaotic neutral
CR 6 · 2,300 XP · GUIDELINESea-Legs. Belit ignores difficult terrain caused by unstable footing, rigging, decks, or rubble, and has advantage on saving throws against being knocked prone or shoved.
Corsair's Mark. Signature. Once on each of her turns, when Belit hits a creature she has not yet struck this combat, or hits a creature already below half its hit points, the attack deals an extra 13 (3d8) damage as she finds the killing seam in their guard.
Actions
Multiattack. Belit makes two scimitar attacks and one lash attack.
Scimitar. Melee Weapon Attack: +8 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 12 (2d6+5) slashing damage.
Lash. Melee Weapon Attack: +8 to hit, reach 15 ft., one target. Hit: 8 (1d6+5) slashing damage, and a Large or smaller target must succeed on a DC 15 Strength saving throw or be pulled up to 10 feet toward Belit and knocked prone.
Bonus Actions & Reactions
Cutthroat's Step (Bonus Action). Belit takes the Dash or Disengage action.
Riposte (Reaction). When a creature within 5 feet misses Belit with a melee attack, she makes one scimitar attack against it.
A lithe corsair queen balanced atop a shattered bowsprit, scimitar bared and coiled whip in hand, hair streaming like a war-banner over the wreckage of a plundered deck.
Belit, Bound
Companion · acts on your initiative
Bound · GUIDELINEOld Shaman's Warding (signature). When a creature Belit can see is hit by an attack within 30 feet of Belit, he can use his reaction to grant it 7 (2d6) temporary hit points and a +2 bonus to its next saving throw.
Actions
Bone Spear. Melee Weapon Attack: +5 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 9 (1d8+5) piercing damage, plus 5 (2d4) necrotic damage.
Reactions
Ill Omen. When an enemy within 30 feet rolls a critical hit, Belit can curse it; that creature has disadvantage on its next attack roll before the end of its next turn.
A wizened ship's shaman who reads the wind and the entrails alike, muttering wardings over Belit's crew and ill-omens upon their foes.

How It Fights — by Tier
Same creature, scaled threat. The traits never change; only the numbers move.
Open with the Lash to yank the squishiest foe out of formation and prone, then fall on it with the scimitar and Corsair's Mark. Use Cutthroat's Step every round so she never stands still; let melee bricks swing at empty air. Pair her with a sea-raider boss or a deck full of corsair minions she leads from the front.
Lash a back-line caster prone and Dash into reach, then Multiattack with Corsair's Mark for a burst spike. Hold Riposte to punish the first melee fighter who closes. She is a skirmisher, not a wall — keep her flanking beside a heavier brute or her own crew rather than alone in the open.
Run her as the dueling captain of a full corsair lair: Lash-and-prone the priority target, then carve it down with Corsair's Mark while minions screen her. Riposte and Cutthroat's Step keep her slippery and reactive. She needs a bigger threat or a swarm beside her — at this tier a lone skirmisher gets focus-fired, so never field her solo.

How a bound creature acts
- A companion acts on its owner's initiative, immediately after the owner.
- It uses the Companion block above — roughly ×0.6 HP and damage, no recharge abilities, and at most one reaction trait.
- It moves freely; it takes its Action only while its owner is conscious.
- At 0 HP a companion is broken, not dead — restored on a long rest unless your table rules otherwise.

Questions, Asked at the Table
What CR is Belit?
Belit is built as a CR 6 (2,300 XP) skirmisher at her native Tier 2, tuned for a 5th-to-10th-level party. The record also gives down-scaled Tier 1 and up-scaled Tier 3 stat lines so you can drop her into any campaign without rebuilding her kit.
Can Belit be a companion or ally?
Yes. Run her as a charismatic pirate-queen patron, a duel-bound rival turned ally, or a player-aligned captain. Her Sea-Legs, Lash control, and Riposte make her an excellent fighting companion at sea or on a crowded deck, and N'Yaga the bound shaman can ride along to ward the crew.
Is Belit a spellcaster?
No — she is a pure martial skirmisher. Her threat comes from mobility, the prone-and-pull Lash, and Corsair's Mark burst damage, not magic. If you want arcane support beside her, lean on her companion N'Yaga's wardings and curses rather than giving Belit spells of her own.
