Guinevere
Guinevere — The Encounter
Crowned Queen of Camelot, whose word steels a kingdom · a boss your table can run with almost no prep. SRD 5.1-compatible.
Who Is Guinevere
Guinevere, high queen of Camelot and daughter of King Leodegrance, came to her husband's hall with a dowry of the Round Table itself, and her presence bound the fellowship as surely as any oath. Where she walks, faltering knights find their courage; where she speaks, even the proud bow their heads. Romancers sing of her love and her sorrow, but the grimoires of the old chroniclers record something stranger: that her favor, pinned to a champion's arm, turned aside blows that should have killed, and that no enchantment of fear or beguilement could touch one who fought in her sight. Foes who underestimate the unarmed queen find her court closing around them like a tightening fist of steel, every blade moving at her quiet command. She is not a warrior. She is the reason warriors do not break.
Run Guinevere in Sixty Seconds
- She is no bruiser - Guinevere is a force multiplier. Her threat is everyone else's rolls getting better. If you kill her allies fast, she becomes a soft target; if you let the buffs stack, the fight balloons.
- Open with Rallying Decree the first round enemies cluster - it dumps temp HP on your line, frees movement, and shuts off enemy reactions for a turn. Save it for the cluster, don't waste it early.
- Kill-priority for her foes: Guinevere, then guards - but she hides behind steeled knights who can't be feared or charmed, so reaching her is the real fight.
- When she's bloodied, lean on Word of Command and her favored ally; she'll trade her own attacks to keep a champion standing rather than swing the scepter.
- Three ways to run her: the radiant court-queen who buffs a knightly retinue (native), the calm anchor behind a single elite champion, or the command node in a throne-room lair stacked beside a flagship boss.
Guinevere
Medium humanoid (noble), lawful good
CR 6 · 2,300 XP · GUIDELINESovereign Presence. Allied creatures within 30 feet of Guinevere can't be charmed or frightened, and they have advantage on saving throws against being charmed or frightened.
Queen's Mandate. Signature. Once per turn when an allied creature Guinevere can see within 30 feet makes an attack roll or saving throw, she can grant it a bonus to that roll equal to her Charisma modifier (+4). She must declare this before the roll is made. If the ally is wearing her favor (a knight she has personally blessed), the bonus instead applies on a roll the ally fails, letting it reroll.
Actions
Multiattack. Guinevere makes two Regal Scepter attacks, or she uses Rallying Decree and makes one Regal Scepter attack.
Regal Scepter. Melee Weapon Attack: +6 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 14 (3d6 + 4) radiant damage, and the target must succeed on a DC 15 Wisdom saving throw or have disadvantage on the next attack roll it makes before the end of its next turn.
Rallying Decree (Recharge 5-6). Guinevere calls her court to order. Each ally within 30 feet that can hear her gains 13 (3d6 + 4) temporary hit points and may immediately move up to half its speed without provoking opportunity attacks. Each enemy within 30 feet must succeed on a DC 15 Wisdom saving throw or be unable to take reactions until the end of its next turn.
Bonus Actions & Reactions
Word of Command. Reaction. When an ally Guinevere can see within 30 feet is hit by an attack, she can direct it to give ground; the ally adds 3 (1d6) to its AC against that attack, potentially turning the hit into a miss.
A poised queen in flowing court regalia and a warding circlet, hands folded over a blessed relic, her gaze the calm center of a realm at war. She carries no blade but the scepter of rule, and her favor is worth more to a knight than any shield.
Guinevere, Bound
Companion · acts on your initiative
Bound · GUIDELINELoyal Guard (signature). While within 5 feet of Guinevere, Guinevere imposes disadvantage on the first attack roll each turn made against her.
Actions
Bite. Melee Weapon Attack: +5 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 11 (2d6 + 4) piercing damage, and a Large or smaller target must succeed on a DC 13 Strength save or be knocked prone.
Reactions
Interpose. When Guinevere is hit by a melee attack and Guinevere is within 5 feet of her, Guinevere can take half the damage in her place.
A great wolfhound of the royal kennels, gray-muzzled and battle-scarred, who has not left the queen's side since a knight first set him there as her warden.

How It Fights — by Tier
Same creature, scaled threat. The traits never change; only the numbers move.
Run her as a protected leader behind a screen of guards: open with Rallying Decree to lock down enemy reactions, then feed Queen's Mandate to whichever ally most needs the bonus. Kill-priority her last; pursuing her means walking through her steeled knights. Pair her with men-at-arms or a single elite knight she can buff.
Open by declaring her favor on the deadliest ally, then Rallying Decree the moment enemies cluster to deny reactions and hand out temp HP. She never wants to melee; keep her 20-30 ft. back and let Word of Command rescue a key ally from a crit. Pair her with two to four knights or a captain - she multiplies their action economy and makes the party's frontline unkillable.
Use her as the command node of a larger threat, not a solo fight: place her in a throne-room lair beside a flagship knight or dragon so her Sovereign Presence and Mandate make that boss far harder to kill. Open with Rallying Decree to break enemy tempo, then chain Queen's Mandate every round into the flagship's attacks. Kill-priority her early - but only if the party can survive reaching her past her guard.

How a bound creature acts
- A companion acts on its owner's initiative, immediately after the owner.
- It uses the Companion block above — roughly ×0.6 HP and damage, no recharge abilities, and at most one reaction trait.
- It moves freely; it takes its Action only while its owner is conscious.
- At 0 HP a companion is broken, not dead — restored on a long rest unless your table rules otherwise.

Questions, Asked at the Table
What CR is Guinevere?
Her native build is CR 6 (2,300 XP) for a Tier 2 party of levels 5-10. The record also gives Tier 1 (levels 1-4) and Tier 3 (levels 11-15) bands so you can drop her into almost any table - the traits and actions stay identical, only AC, HP, to-hit, and save DC shift.
Can Guinevere be a companion or ally?
Absolutely - she is built to be one. As a non-combatant queen, she makes a superb NPC patron or party ally: Queen's Mandate and Rallying Decree directly buff the heroes, and Sovereign Presence keeps them immune to fear and charm. She is far more dangerous as a buff engine for a boss than as a target herself.
Is Guinevere a solo boss?
No. She is an add-on leader, not a flagship - she has no legendary actions and her kit only shines when she has allies to empower. Pair her with knights, a captain, or a bigger centerpiece threat (a great knight or dragon) and let her make that threat the real problem.
