Sheena, the Warrior Queen — The Encounter

Jungle-crowned huntress, queen of the green and untamed wilds · a boss your table can run with almost no prep. SRD 5.1-compatible.

Who Is Sheena, the Warrior Queen

Among the deep-wood peoples she is named Sheena, raised by the green country itself after the death of her kin, schooled in the tongue of every beast that runs or stalks. The grimoires of would-be conquerors speak of her with grudging fear: a queen who keeps no walls and wears no crown but the wild, who answers trespass with the hiss of a thrown blade that returns to her hand as if loyal. She moves where no path exists, drops from the canopy without sound, and fells the river-tyrants the villages dare not name. Hunters say her warring-ring has clipped three throats on a single throw before circling home. She rules not by edict but by presence; the predators heel to her, the people shelter behind her, and the slaver and the poacher learn that the jungle has a will, and that will carries a spear.

Wild Reflexes. Sheena has advantage on Dexterity saving throws against effects she can see, and she cannot be surprised while conscious.

Returning Ringblade. Signature. Sheena's bladed warring-ring is balanced to fly true and come home. On a hit, the ring can ricochet to a second creature within 15 ft. of the first that she can see; she makes one additional ring attack against it. After she throws the ring, it returns to her hand at the end of her turn, ready to throw again.

Actions

Multiattack. Sheena makes three attacks in any combination of Spearblade and Warring-Ring.

Spearblade. Melee Weapon Attack: +7 to hit, reach 10 ft., one target. Hit: 12 (2d6+4) piercing damage, and if the target is a creature it must succeed on a DC 15 Strength saving throw or be knocked prone.

Warring-Ring. Ranged Weapon Attack: +7 to hit, range 30/60 ft., one target. Hit: 11 (2d6+4) slashing damage. See Returning Ringblade.

Bonus Actions & Reactions

Huntress's Leap (Bonus). Sheena moves up to half her speed without provoking opportunity attacks.

Turn the Blade (Reaction). When a creature she can see hits her with a melee attack, Sheena adds 3 to her AC against that attack, potentially causing it to miss.

Sheena strides atop the corpse of a great river-beast, warring-ring poised to fly and barbed spearblade leveled, her armor a patchwork of scaled hide and bronze.

Reactions

Cover the Queen. When a creature Sheena, the Warrior Queen can see attacks Sheena, Sheena, the Warrior Queen may impose disadvantage on that attack roll if it is within 5 ft. of Sheena, the Warrior Queen.

A great spotted hunting-cat who pads at her heel, eyes gold and patient, fangs bared at any who raise steel against its queen.

How It Fights — by Tier

Same creature, scaled threat. The traits never change; only the numbers move.

Tier 1Levels 1-4 · GUIDELINE
AC14HP8d8+16 (52) To-hit+4Save DC13

Open at range with the Warring-Ring so its ricochet clips two clustered foes, then leap into melee with the Spearblade to knock down the strongest attacker. Kill-priority is the enemy archer or caster, whom her ring can reach across the field. Pair her with a flagship boss or a beast handler; she is a mobile skirmisher, not a one-woman army at this tier.

Tier 2Levels 5-10 · NATIVE
AC16HP16d8+48 (120) To-hit+7Save DC15

Lead with a thrown Warring-Ring into a clustered group to trigger the ricochet, then Huntress's Leap into the back line and full Multiattack the caster or healer. Use Turn the Blade to shrug the heaviest melee swing and keep her in their faces. Run her with minions or alongside a bigger threat so the party cannot simply gang the queen down.

Tier 3Levels 11-15 · GUIDELINE
AC18HP22d8+88 (187) To-hit+9Save DC17

As a lieutenant in a lair fight, open the ring against the densest cluster for the ricochet, then bound between targets each round, prone-locking front-liners with the Spearblade. Focus the party's strongest single-target damage dealer to blunt their burst. Pair her with a flagship boss or pack of beasts; she controls the flanks while the larger threat anchors the center.

Questions, Asked at the Table

What CR is Sheena, the Warrior Queen?

Her home build is CR 6 (Tier 2, AC 16, 120 HP, +7 to hit, DC 15), a fast martial skirmisher for level 5-10 parties. Scaled-down (CR 2-ish) and scaled-up (CR 11-ish) stat lines are provided so you can drop her into any tier without rebuilding the kit.

Can Sheena be a companion or ally?

Yes. As an ally she is a mobile damage-dealer and scout: her ring softens clustered enemies, Huntress's Leap repositions her each turn, and her speak-with-beasts gift lets her parley with or command wildlife. She makes a natural patron or rival who later fights at the party's side.

Does her warring-ring really come back to her hand?

Yes. Returning Ringblade lets the ring ricochet to a second nearby creature on a hit and then return to her at the end of her turn, so she can throw it again next round without ever running out of ammunition.
