Myrraleth
Myrraleth — The Encounter
The Avalanche in Scales, fists bound in blood · a boss your table can run with almost no prep. SRD 5.1-compatible.
Who Is Myrraleth
They name him the Avalanche in Scales, for nothing he sets in motion can be turned aside. Myrraleth was forged in the warrior-creed of the spent volcano-peaks, where the dragon-blooded learn that violence is not chaos but clarity. He took no blade and no bow; instead his fists were bound in Skarblades, gauntlets of volcanic steel that drink heat from the stone itself. He walks the battlefield with the patience of bedrock and falls upon his quarry with the weight of a collapsing cliff. Where lesser kin rampage and demolish, Myrraleth simply arrives, plants his clawed feet, and ends the matter. Those who study the dragon-peaks record that his gauntlets run hottest only after he has bled, as though pain were a forge. He answers no lord and follows no banner, yet armies pay in gold and tribute to point him at an enemy, knowing the avalanche, once loosed, asks no permission to fall.
Run Myrraleth in Sixty Seconds
- No flight, all charge. Myrraleth is a ground bruiser with 40-ft speed. Always start at least 20 feet back so his first hit triggers Avalanche Momentum and prones the target.
- Kill-priority: the back line. He ignores the front-line tank and bulldozes straight for casters and archers. Prone one, then Multiattack to keep it down for your minions.
- When bloodied, he heats up. At half HP his gauntlets go molten and every strike adds 1d6 fire. Do not pull him back at half health, lean in and swing harder.
- Save the reaction for the shover. Stonefooted nullifies the one fighter who tries to push him off the casters and burns them for the trouble.
- Three ways to run him: wrecking ball that prones and pins the squishies, an arena bruiser that bait-tanks melee onto Stonefooted, or a creed-enforcer escorting a bigger flagship boss.
Myrraleth
Medium dragon, chaotic neutral
CR 6 · 2,300 XP · GUIDELINEAvalanche Momentum. If Myrraleth moves at least 20 feet straight toward a creature before hitting it with a Skarblade strike, the target takes an extra 7 (2d6) bludgeoning damage and must succeed on a DC 15 Strength saving throw or be knocked prone.
Volcanic Heart. When Myrraleth is reduced to half its hit points or below, its gauntlets glow molten. Until the end of the encounter, its unarmed strikes deal an extra 3 (1d6) fire damage.
Actions
Multiattack. Myrraleth makes two Skarblade Fist attacks. If both hit the same target, that target must succeed on a DC 15 Strength saving throw or be pushed 10 feet and knocked prone.
Skarblade Fist. Melee Weapon Attack: +7 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 13 (2d8+4) bludgeoning damage.
Bite. Melee Weapon Attack: +7 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 9 (1d10+4) piercing damage.
Bonus Actions & Reactions
Stonefooted (Reaction). When a creature within 5 feet hits Myrraleth with a melee attack, Myrraleth may plant his feet; he ignores being moved or knocked prone by that attack and the attacker takes 5 (1d10) bludgeoning damage from the recoil of his gauntlet.
A barrel-chested dragonkin sheathed in burnt-orange scales, his horned skull thrown back in a roar, both fists wrapped in volcanic steel gauntlets and slick to the wrist with the blood of the judged.
Myrraleth, Bound
Companion · acts on your initiative
Bound · GUIDELINECreed-Sworn (signature). Myrraleth has advantage on saving throws against being frightened while it can see an ally within 30 feet.
Actions
Ember Gauntlet. Melee Weapon Attack: +6 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 11 (2d6+4) bludgeoning damage plus 3 (1d6) fire damage.
Reactions
Guard the Line. When an ally within 5 feet is hit by an attack, Myrraleth can reduce that damage by 5 (1d8+1) by interposing its gauntlet.
A younger creed-sworn dragonkin who shadows Myrraleth, mirroring his stances and learning the gauntlet-forms by taking the blows meant for others.

How It Fights — by Tier
Same creature, scaled threat. The traits never change; only the numbers move.
Open by charging the squishiest target to trigger Avalanche Momentum and knock it prone. Focus the prone creature so allies pile on with advantage. Pair with a flagship boss or 2-3 minions; he is a bruiser add-on, not the centerpiece.
Open with a 20-ft charge into the back-line caster: Avalanche Momentum prones them, then Multiattack to keep them down. Save Stonefooted for the fighter who tries to shove him off the casters. Kill-priority is anything fragile that he can reach; bait melee onto him and let his reaction punish it.
Run him as the wrecking-ball enforcer beside a bigger threat or in a lair full of creed-sworn minions. Open on the controller, prone it, and let the minions surround the downed PC. When bloodied his molten fists add fire each swing, so press the attack rather than retreat. Pair him with a flying or spellcasting boss so the party cannot ignore either.

How a bound creature acts
- A companion acts on its owner's initiative, immediately after the owner.
- It uses the Companion block above — roughly ×0.6 HP and damage, no recharge abilities, and at most one reaction trait.
- It moves freely; it takes its Action only while its owner is conscious.
- At 0 HP a companion is broken, not dead — restored on a long rest unless your table rules otherwise.

Questions, Asked at the Table
What CR is Myrraleth?
Natively CR 6 (Tier 2, levels 5-10): AC 16, 127 HP, +7 to hit, save DC 15. Scaled stat lines for Tier 1 (~CR 2) and Tier 3 (~CR 11) are provided in the tiers table, with identical traits and only the numbers shifting.
Can Myrraleth be a companion or ally?
He works best as a hired enforcer or boss-escort rather than a party member, but the bundled companion Ashfellow, Bound (AC 14, 76 HP) is built to fight alongside a party, guarding the line and mirroring his gauntlet forms.
Why doesn't Myrraleth fly or breathe a cone of fire like a true dragon?
He is a dragon-blooded warrior-monk, not a winged wyrm: the render shows no wings and gauntleted fists, so he is statted as a melee dragonkin bruiser. His fire shows up as fire resistance and the molten-fist boost when bloodied, not a breath weapon.
