The Grimoire Speaks
Zagan is the Sixty-first Spirit of the Ars Goetia, holding the rank of King/President in the infernal hierarchy. According to the Lesser Key of Solomon, Zagan commands 33 legions of inferior spirits and belongs to the order of Kings. This entity is among the nine Kings of the Goetia — the supreme rulers of Hell's legions.
Appearance
He appeareth at first in the form of a Bull with Gryphon's Wings; but after a while he putteth on Human Shape.
Powers & Dominion
He maketh Men Witty. He can turn Wine into Water, and Blood into Wine, and also Water into Wine. He can turn all Metals into Coin of the Dominion that Metal is of. He can even make Fools wise.
Summoning & Constraints
He governeth 33 Legions of Spirits.
Historical Note
The seal and description of Zagan are drawn from the Ars Goetia, the first book of the Lemegeton (Lesser Key of Solomon), a 17th-century grimoire compiled from older Medieval and Renaissance sources. The 72 demons were said to have been conjured and bound by King Solomon using a brass vessel sealed with divine names. Each demon's seal, reproduced above, was used by the conjurer as a means of identification and control during the summoning ritual. Clay Cyanide's sculptural interpretations bring these ancient descriptions into three-dimensional form for the first time as presupported 3D printable STL miniatures.
