The Oath on Hermon

In the days when the sons of heaven looked down and saw that the daughters of men were fair, two hundred of them came to their leader, Semjaza, and said: let us descend. And Semjaza feared. I alone shall pay for this sin, he said. So they bound themselves by mutual oath upon the peak of Mount Hermon, two hundred angels sworn together, that no one of them would bear the guilt alone. They called themselves the Grigori — the Watchers. And then they fell.

II

The Forbidden Teaching

They did not merely fall. They taught. Azazel gave men the sword and the breastplate and the paints of war. Kokabel taught the courses of the stars, Sariel the phases of the moon, Shamsiel the signs of the sun. Kasdeja taught the strikes of the serpents, Penemue the bitter secret of ink and paper, Araqiel the reckoning of the earth and its graves, Ezeqeel the reading of the storm. And Gadreel led the way astray, as he had led the first astray. Every forbidden art that mankind was never meant to hold, a Watcher put into its hands.

Heaven had kept these things back for a reason. The Watchers gave them away for love, and the world has been bleeding from the gift ever since.
III

The Host That Would Not Repent

For their sin the Watchers were judged and bound beneath the hills to await the end. But an oath sworn by two hundred angels does not simply unmake itself. Semjaza still wears the oath as a crown of bound bodies, and while any Watcher stands, the rest do not fall. They rise now as they were at the height of their pride — vast, eye-wreathed, beautiful and wrong — a fallen choir that teaches its last lesson with tooth and light and word.

Ten of the two hundred are given here, each a boss built to end a campaign. They are, by founder's decree, overpowered: legendary fallen angels meant for the hardest fight your table will ever run. Field them alone, or bring the whole host down on your players at once, with Semjaza's crown turning above them all.
