Osiris
Osiris — The Encounter
Green-Skinned Lord of the Dead, Judge of the Weighed Heart · a boss your table can run with almost no prep. SRD 5.1-compatible.
Who Is Osiris
Slain by his own brother and sealed in a coffin cast upon the Nile, the once-living king did not stay dead. Gathered and bound again by faithful hands, he rose green as the sprouting barley and took the throne of the dead, where every soul must one day kneel. He carries the crook of the shepherd-king and the flail of the harvest, for he rules both the gentle and the severe. In his hall the heart of each newcomer is laid upon the scale against a single feather of truth; those found wanting are unmade, those found worthy granted the fields of the blessed. He does not hunt the living, yet the living who profane the tombs, break oaths sworn over the dead, or cheat the scales of justice will feel his cold verdict reach across the threshold. To face him is to be judged, and few judgments end in mercy.
Run Osiris in Sixty Seconds
- He is a twice-killed boss. Rebirth of the Green Lord brings him back at 75 HP one round after he first hits 0 — tell yourself now, do not let the party celebrate early.
- Open with Decree of the Tomb. The 30-ft cone restrains the cluster and sets up the Devourer's free bite; lead every fight with it when it's charged.
- Kill-priority is healers and runners. His Judge trait blocks outside stabilization, so a dropped PC stays down — and Verdict shuts off escape attempts.
- When bloodied, spend legendary on Green Renewal. Heal 20 and shed a condition to stall while Rebirth recharges your staying power.
- Three ways to run him: a remote judge who flings Withering Gaze and Verdict from afar; a frontline king trading Crook and Flail blows; or a tomb-guardian who never leaves the Devourer's side and grinds the party down two deaths at a time.
Osiris
Medium undead, lawful neutral
CR 11 · 7,200 XP · GUIDELINEJudge of the Weighed Heart. Osiris perceives the guilt and unfinished deeds of every creature he sees. He has advantage on saving throws against being deceived and on Insight checks, and any creature reduced to 0 hit points within 30 ft. of him cannot be stabilized by others unless he wills it.
Rebirth of the Green Lord. (signature) The first time Osiris drops to 0 hit points, he is not destroyed. Instead he falls inert for 1 round, then on his next turn rises with 75 hit points as new growth sheathes his body. This trait recharges at dawn.
Magic Resistance. Osiris has advantage on saving throws against spells and other magical effects.
Actions
Multiattack. Osiris makes two attacks: one with his Crook and one with his Flail, or he casts a spell and makes one weapon attack.
Crook of Dominion. Melee Weapon Attack: +9 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 18 (3d8 + 4) bludgeoning damage, and the target must succeed on a DC 17 Wisdom saving throw or be unable to take reactions until the start of its next turn.
Flail of Reaping. Melee Weapon Attack: +9 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 16 (2d10 + 4) bludgeoning damage plus 14 (4d6) necrotic damage.
Decree of the Tomb (Recharge 5-6). Osiris speaks a verdict of stillness. Each creature of his choice in a 30-foot cone must make a DC 17 Constitution saving throw, taking 45 (10d8) necrotic damage and being restrained until the end of its next turn on a failure, or half damage and no restraint on a success.
Bonus Actions & Reactions
Verdict (Reaction). When a creature Osiris can see within 30 ft. makes an attack roll or saving throw, he weighs its heart and imposes disadvantage on the roll.
Legendary Actions (3/Round)
Crook Strike. Osiris makes one Crook of Dominion attack.
Withering Gaze (Costs 2 Actions). One creature Osiris can see within 60 ft. must succeed on a DC 17 Constitution saving throw or take 14 (4d6) necrotic damage and have its hit point maximum reduced by that amount until it finishes a long rest.
Green Renewal (Costs 2 Actions). Osiris regains 20 hit points and ends one condition affecting him.
Crowned in the tall white Atef and plumes, the green-skinned god stands upon a fallen column, the crook raised in benediction and the flail of reaping hung at his belt — sovereign of the silent country beneath the sand.
Osiris, Bound
Companion · acts on your initiative
Bound · GUIDELINESwallower of the Unworthy (signature). When a creature within 10 ft. of the Devourer fails a saving throw against Osiris's Decree of the Tomb, the Devourer may immediately make a Crushing Bite against it as a reaction.
Actions
Crushing Bite. Melee Weapon Attack: +8 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 22 (3d10 + 6) piercing damage, and the target is grappled (escape DC 16).
Reactions
Guard the Verdict. When Osiris is hit by an attack, the Devourer can move up to its speed toward the attacker; if it ends adjacent, the attacker has disadvantage on its next attack.
A crocodile-lion-hippopotamus horror that crouches beside the great scale, ready to swallow every heart that tips against the feather of truth.

How It Fights — by Tier
Same creature, scaled threat. The traits never change; only the numbers move.
Open with Decree of the Tomb to restrain the clustered front line, then crook the frailest caster to lock its reactions. Kill-priority is anyone trying to flee his judgment; he punishes the guilty first. Even shrunk to this tier his Rebirth means parties must drop him twice — warn them or they spend their reserves too early.
Lead with Verdict on the enemy's biggest attack, then flail-and-necrotic the heaviest melee threat. If foes bunch, Decree of the Tomb cones them flat. Hold a turn of damage in reserve for the Rebirth phase so the party cannot nova him in one round.
Open with Decree of the Tomb on the cluster, then spend legendary actions on Withering Gaze to shrink the tank's pool before it can soak. Kill-priority is healers — his Judge trait already blocks outside stabilization, so a downed PC stays down. When he hits 0, he drops for one round then rises at 75 HP; keep the Devourer adjacent the whole fight to bite anyone the Decree restrains.

How a bound creature acts
- A companion acts on its owner's initiative, immediately after the owner.
- It uses the Companion block above — roughly ×0.6 HP and damage, no recharge abilities, and at most one reaction trait.
- It moves freely; it takes its Action only while its owner is conscious.
- At 0 HP a companion is broken, not dead — restored on a long rest unless your table rules otherwise.

Questions, Asked at the Table
What CR is Osiris?
Native CR 11 (Tier 3, levels 11-15), worth 7,200 XP. Because he has legendary actions and the Rebirth trait he is solo-capable, so his sheet is pitched one band down to stay fair as a centerpiece boss. Scale him to CR 2 (T1) or CR 6 (T2) using the tier table — traits stay identical, only the numbers move.
Can Osiris be a companion or ally?
As a lawful judge of the dead he is rarely a hireling, but he will aid those who uphold oaths and justice. Use the bound Devourer at the Scale as the playable ally piece (AC 14, 119 HP) — it swallows the unworthy and guards the verdict, fitting Osiris's court without putting a god on the party's side.
Is Osiris undead, and does that mean he can be turned?
He has the undead type but functions as a divine sovereign of the dead, not a shambling corpse. He is immune to the charmed, frightened, poisoned, and exhaustion conditions and has Magic Resistance, so most turning and control attempts simply fail against his saving throws.
