The Grimoire Speaks
Asmoday is the Thirty-second Spirit of the Ars Goetia, holding the rank of King in the infernal hierarchy. According to the Lesser Key of Solomon, Asmoday commands 72 legions of inferior spirits and belongs to the order of Kings. This entity is among the nine Kings of the Goetia — the supreme rulers of Hell's legions.
Appearance
He appeareth with Three Heads, whereof the first is like a Bull, the second like a Man, and the third like a Ram. He hath also the tail of a Serpent, and from his mouth issue Flames of Fire. His Feet are webbed like those of a Goose. He sitteth upon an Infernal Dragon, and beareth in his hand a Lance with a Banner.
Powers & Dominion
He giveth the Ring of Virtues; he teacheth the Arts of Arithmetic, Astronomy, Geometry, and all handicrafts absolutely. He giveth true and full answers unto thy demands. He maketh one Invincible. He showeth the place where Treasures lie, and guardeth it.
Summoning & Constraints
He is first of the Order of Dominations under AMAYMON, and must be invoked bareheaded. He governeth 72 Legions of Infernal Spirits.
Historical Note
The seal and description of Asmoday are drawn from the Ars Goetia, the first book of the Lemegeton (Lesser Key of Solomon), a 17th-century grimoire compiled from older Medieval and Renaissance sources. The 72 demons were said to have been conjured and bound by King Solomon using a brass vessel sealed with divine names. Each demon's seal, reproduced above, was used by the conjurer as a means of identification and control during the summoning ritual. Clay Cyanide's sculptural interpretations bring these ancient descriptions into three-dimensional form for the first time as presupported 3D printable STL miniatures.
