The Grimoire Speaks
Belial is the Sixty-eighth Spirit of the Ars Goetia, holding the rank of King in the infernal hierarchy. According to the Lesser Key of Solomon, Belial commands 80 legions of inferior spirits and belongs to the order of Kings. This entity is among the nine Kings of the Goetia — the supreme rulers of Hell's legions.
Appearance
He appeareth in the form of Two beautiful Angels sitting in a Chariot of Fire. He speaketh with a Comely Voice, and declareth that he fell first from among the worthier sort, that were before Michael, and other Heavenly Angels.
Powers & Dominion
He distributeth Presentations and Senatorships, and he giveth Favour of Friends and of Foes. He giveth excellent Familiars, and governeth 50 Legions of Spirits. He must have Offerings, Sacrifices and Gifts presented unto him.
Summoning & Constraints
He was created next after LUCIFER, and is of his order. He must be constrained by Divine Power, or else he will not give True Answers. He must have offerings and sacrifices.
Historical Note
The seal and description of Belial are drawn from the Ars Goetia, the first book of the Lemegeton (Lesser Key of Solomon), a 17th-century grimoire compiled from older Medieval and Renaissance sources. The 72 demons were said to have been conjured and bound by King Solomon using a brass vessel sealed with divine names. Each demon's seal, reproduced above, was used by the conjurer as a means of identification and control during the summoning ritual. Clay Cyanide's sculptural interpretations bring these ancient descriptions into three-dimensional form for the first time as presupported 3D printable STL miniatures.
